I'm from Eastern Europe, but a resident of California (so cheaper tuition at Davis)
I do not know which school to choose because I like the location(although it's too far) of Macalester, it's emphasis on various cultures, the fact that it's a small college
However, I would like to be active - maybe play on a club(intramural?) team, join some organization, and of course I want an active social life! I think it might be easier to do at Davis, or am I wrong? money is important, but my parents made wayyy too much to qualify for any aid and have the resources to pay for any college (at this moment, business is risky...)
What about opportunities after college/ alumni network? Is it easier to get a job/ get into grad school from one of these schools?

Anyone?

There should be tremendous opportunities for all kinds of involvement at Mac, and probably greater involvement with faculty and administration. As an international student, you’d be a key player in the institutional mission there, which would be exciting. It’s in a metropolis of over 3 million people, so there would be greater opportunities for off-campus activity than at Davis. Employers and grad schools will know Mac, even if your next-door neighbor in Calif doesn’t.

That said, you couldn’t go wrong at Davis either. I’ve been there and liked it as well. But as a university administrator, I just happen to be a big Macalester fan. I encouraged my younger daughter to consider applying there, but she wanted to study something they didn’t offer.
