UC Davis Vs. UC Santa Barbara

Hey guys,

I’m a pre-med transfer student who was admitted to Davis as a biological sciences major and to SB as a pre-biology major. I was also admitted to UCSD for general biology, but that is no longer an option because I would need to retake courses that I do not want to retake. I am trying to decide between Davis and SB. Which one of these schools will give me the best chance to attend med school? Is there a significant difference between bio at SB and bio at Davis? I would appreciate any feedback you guys have!

I can’t address the bio differences, but the scene is very different at each school. Davis is the quieter small town, with a more rural campus feel with the animal studies on site, flat in the middle of not much. But it’s a cute, perhaps some may consider a “more serious” type campus by virtue that there are less distractions there…UCSB is on the beach in a more festive atmosphere. I don’t know of much difference academically, both are well regarded, I really think it is more about which environment you would do better at. But again, I’m not familiar with bio at each school…

Neither school will give you the “best chance” at med school. Both are excellent and considered equal academically.

Choose whichever one you like better.

Agree ^^^ pick the school where you think you can succeed academically/socially and financially.
UCD does have a medical school but UCSB does not.

Agree with the above posts but also look at if you will be able to get into your pre-med pre-requisite classes more easily at one school compared to the other.
