Keep in mind that not being notified as soon as they start notifying doesn't mean you won't be accepted.

A little update from my camp:

I dropped two classes that were requirements for my (TAG) with UCSD. 26 units was just too much; I really thought I could handle it, but I had some personal problems (what's new? :/) and that threw me off pretty badly.

So now I'm left with 18 units.

With a 3.29 gpa, a good amount of W's, and no real EC's, I've pretty much accepted the fact that I only have a chance at 2 of the 5 schools I've applied to: UCSB and the University of San Diego. I'm still thinking of applying to LMU, as their deadline is June 1st.

If I don't get into any schools, I will just transfer my (TAG) with UCSD for the Winter 2006 quarter and transfer then. Such is life I guess.

3.29 should still get u in. A poster here, got in w/ a 3.15 into ucsd as history major. His sn was cccisprison, he was really funny. He choose to go to SB.

I would choose SB over SD as well.

BTW, my major is poli sci.

Coast, I'm a poli sci major as well. What is your concentration? Anyways, I believe you only need to hold a 3.0 GPA for the TAG agreement in order to be guaranteed admission. It should say somewhere on the TAG agreement. I do agree that 26 units is far too much to handle for the average person. I think it would be best for you to transfer in Winter 07'. Although, keep in mind that it will be hard to find apartments during this time of the year.

International Relations! :)

Anyway, let me clarify my situation a bit. :)

I don't want to go to UCSD anymore. Over the last couple of months, the notion that UCSD is not that great from a social standpoint has really made me change my mind about it. The fact that you can't even get on-campus housing as a transfer only makes things even worse. Thus, I'm not going to finish my (TAG) with them in time to transfer for the fall of 06.

It looks as if the only way I end up at UCSD is if I get rejected from every school I have applied to for the fall of '06 (UCLA,B,UCSB,UofS,LMU).
I would then take another semester at my JC so that I could finish the (TAG) and then transfer to UCSD in the winter of '06.

I really, really, REALLY hope I get into UCSB. I absolutely love the social + academic atmosphere there.

3.29 is a good GPA for Santa Barbara, as long as your IGETC, etc. is in order.

Coast, good luck in getting accepted to UCSB. It is a great university! :D Just don't party too much. ;) I was thinking of looking into LMU as well since I live so close to there. The thing I am worried about is the tuition costs. Since it is a private school, I am looking at $40k a year. I think I'd rather go to USC if I were going to pay that much for tuition. I don't think LMU is really that well known to emplyers anyways, at least I don't think so. Things brings up a question that I had in mind for awhile. Is there anything I can receive (besides grants and that scholar's scholarship) that will reduce the cost of tuition at USC or LMU?

hahaha, i like how you guys continued the countdown on days i get lazy...

muhaha, what can i say, i'm anxious =)

Another countdown?

UCLA and UCB (65 Days to go)...

UCSB and UCSD (18 days to go)...

UCR (3 days to go)...

Coast, a member here got into UCLA with a 3.2 GPA. There's always hope.

On the TAG agreement paper I saw you only need a 2.8 for guaranteed admission to UCSD. Maybe that's just because I live in SD???

Kylefc, so it was only a 2.8 GPA that you needed? Anyways, this applies to everyone in California, not just to those who are local.

With the (TAG) I signed from Orange Coast College, all I needed was a 2.8 for guaranteed admission to UCSD.

UCSC gate program is the same with a 2.8. but you don't have to take the honors courses that are required by the tag.

TAG requires honors courses? It doesn't at my CCC. And it's a 2.8, but there has been talk to raise it to a 3.0.

wow, thats an insanely low cut-off.

sorry not honors courses. I meant a specific course path, when ucsc only requires gen ed.

at my cc, it requires annoying classes that most people don't have time to do. Like a full year of foreign language ( HS doesn't excuse u from taking it). A full series of some science, like chem 101-chem 102,, which is very hard for non science majors.

WHich makes people stay at cc longer.

Just do ur prereqs, get a 3.2+, i think u'll get into ucsd. I don't guarantee it though. SOme of their majors are very competitive like biomedical engineering, which is i think is one of the best ones in tthe country.

But, i don't think TAG applies to that major.
