I'm really unsure as to what housing I want to choose as a transfer student from a CC to UC Davis, as junior. I know this topic has been brought up before, and believe me, I have read the comments. The majority involve the discontent of those transfer students whom live off campus and this worries me as off campus living is my present decision.
I am hoping that by giving you some info of my situation that you might give me either first hand or second hand experience of off campus or on campus living and some needed advice; I'm curious to know more about the trade-offs.
First off, cost is a factor but not if one choice is overwhelmingly better than the other. I am particularly concerned with being isolated from others (like others have reported after having lived as a transfer off campus). I am not the most outgoing when it comes to meeting new people so off campus could be difficult in that respect while something like a dorm could be ...distracting. I get the impression that most of transfer and probably all juniors live off campus but the only response to off campus living that I have read is negative. From experience or maybe from what a friend has gone through, what do you think the better choice is?
I think this sums up my concerns. Thanks for any and all feedback.

I can't help you with your questions and I don't think many people in this forum can help you either. Why don't you try posting your quetsions in the UC Davis CC forum or try posting in Livejournal UcDavis

By "living off campus" do you mean living at home with your parents or living in an apartment w/ fellow students as your roomates? I think the latter would be considerably more enjoyable than the former option.

The general consensus I've gathered from talking to people is that if you live off campus your going to feel like your missing out. Don't you want to experience true college life after trudging along at Community College for the past couple years?

Sorry, these are late replies; power went out in the neighborhood for four days...very cold :(.
Ally, I will spread around my question into other forums thanks. I hadn't thought of Livejournal, I'll definitely try there.
Barto, I meant living very near campus in an apartment. Yes, living with other students off campus sounds more enjoyable to me too, but like you also heard, when you go into an apartment situation w/o knowing your room mates, it is still a bit isolating.
And yes, I absolutely want to experience true university life but knowing that sadly hasn't yet helped me to chose which housing is best.

Doesnt Davis offer dorms specifically for transfer students? That seems like a good option.
