UC Irvine and San Diego State pros/cons on their Business Schools?

OP- no idea how competitive business is, but your stats are well within the general range for SDSU. Good luck to you. Oh, and I’m an SDSU alum, go Aztecs!

Woo! @socalmom007 Hope you had an awesome experience there!!

@seniorladd does your school have naviance? Look at it. For our high school, big CA public, 1200 and 4.1 is well in the green. Obviously major counts, but I would rule this applicant out by any means.

@beloved18 25 years ago SDSU was a good time!

@socalmom007 According to my guidance counselor at my private school, a good academic standing is over 1300 + SAT and 27 + ACT. That’s were I’m basing my information from.

@seniorladd that threshold seems rather arbitrary. Those stats would get you close at some schools, yet are well within range for others. Plenty of students get into UCI and SDSU with a 4.1 GPA and 1200 sat, we’re not talking about UCLA here.

@beloved18: You will get an excellent education at either UCI or SDSU. If you are into rankings for Grad schools, UCI is ranked higher than SDSU but rankings do not tell you everything.

I suggest you compare the curriculum for your specific Business major for both schools and see which will fit your needs the best. Going to college is more than just the academics, so you want to see which school fits you academically, socially and financially.

Good Luck and hopefully you are accepted to both or the decision may be moot.

with your stats, you are a shoe in for SDSU - UCI could go either way and will depend on your essays and ECs
good luck

UC Merced has a high acceptance rate and average test scores @beloved18 . Hopefully you applied there too since it accepts rejects from any top tier UC’s. Better Safe than Sorry. I would be happy to give you feedback on your UC essays to adequately predict your chances of getting into Irvine.

SDSU has a huge school of business with dedicated alumni all over the state.

It is a very popular campus and is a beautiful setting.
The professors are sharp and well-connected.

It used to be very tough to gain entry into the school of business. I don’t know if that’s changed. Job placement through the school, as well as the career center, was always positive for my Aztec classmates.

Before you make a decision, you need to visit both campuses.

@seniorladd you have got to stop, how exceedingly rude. Quit trolling this kid asking about the quality of the business schools he applied to.

Apparently you can’t use the word T r o l l even if it’s accurate?

I just find it disrespectful how someone could insult a school’s prestige like that @socalmom007 if you aren’t at its level then please don’t waste the school’s time, that prolongs the acceptances for us men who deserve it. It’s just too competitive now. Male applicants with 3.7-4.1 to some extent have a harder time getting in, especially if your Asian. Im not Asian so I have a slight advantage.
The point is college isn’t for everyone

Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about as all California public universities have race blind admissions. Enough already.

@seniorladd honestly go find something else to do besides feel superior cause right now you ain’t crap. Bye lets see how your acceptances go lmao.

@Socalmom007 Don’t forget the CSUs also do not factor gender in their admissions as well!

@seniorladd Very hypocritical that you’re saying OP is wasting the admission officer’s time, when in reality it’s you who is wasting their time. No one wants a snob attending their school. Quit telling OP what schools he should apply to instead; just answer his question.

@seniorladd For the record, I’m a female. Not that it matters, but it’s really demeaning that you believe only men with high stats can go to college. Your criticism is very constructive, it has shown me what kind of attitude NOT to have. I hope SDSU accepts you so you can stop being so bitter about it. I mean it, best of luck to you!

Thank you to those with such positive, informative responses! I really really appreciate your input. I will keep every answer in mind the next couple of stressful months. Good luck to all fellow 2017 applicants!
