UC Irvine Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@rmalani
They consider you as a regular applicant

I emailed an admissions counselor via the message center about the expected admissions date. The person who replied to me said May 1st or very shortly after. I hope this is a joke because the UCI Portal FAQ says it will be posted no later than April 30th… :confused:

UCI admissions is still a disaster as always, I see! Lol.

Gosh UCI is lagging so much. This is ridiculous…

I guess UCI doesn’t want me…but I got into UCSD and my first choice UCLA last night so I don’t even care now.

Lol UCI is releasing admissions after UCLA… Has that ever happened before?

I think it happened last year too, or maybe the year before. Lol.

I got into UCSB UCSD and UCLA so im not worried about the wait anymore haha

Guys, with all due respect, there are people on this thread that probably did not get into UCLA and are waiting for UCI because they need it. Can we be a little courteous and not belittle UCI for others, there are people who do care about UCI on this thread. Just saying…

Yes thank you. They’re just trying to show off! Lol

^my guess is that they are, like I am, annoyed at UCI, and excited to be in somewhere… that should be understandable as well. Nobody here paid 70$ for an Irvine application if it meant nothing to them, and even those going elsewhere can be mad about not hearing back from them

@sagemeadow @g3tb0mbed what’d you get in to UCLA for?

@csayala93 Mechanical Engineering

Agreed with @lbwaterpoloman

Guys chill its next week. Do something else to preoccupy yourselves. I get the angst but right now you have 6 days left. Start worrying on Thursday or something~

Oh god somebody please help me I think I just truly messed up my uci application. I applied to transfer as a public health science major and finished my igetc/major prereq. But I just checked assist today and it says I need to finish stats before I transfer? I assumed since it was under additional approved class category it didn’t matter to take stats before transferring. But after carefully reading it yesterday I’m thinking it means I have to finish stats before I can transfer?!

I have already signed up for a summer statistics class but I haven’t informed uci yet. I updated myapplication and messaged them on it but it says the letter is unopened. What should I do now?

I know this is an incredibly stupid mistake on my behalf and now I’m freaking out!

@Chevronn yep, seems like you need to take that class. theres really nothing you can do now though, so just wait! im sure missing a prereq isnt that bad for irvine if you have a solid gpa! the uc’s that are the strictest on major prereqs are like ucsb, ucla, and ucb (i think)

@chevron Not much I think, since your app is already submitted. Just email them the situation I guess and wait. But from the wording it sounds like as long as you finish by the time you transfer it should be ok? Unless I’m misunderstanding it too.

“Students must complete one year of mathematics. Transfer students must complete
one semester of calculus and one semester of statistics.” You should be okay with the app as long as you finished the “required major coursework” I think. And if you finish the rest of the igetc/major coursework by the time you transfer. Don’t quote me on this though.

@Chevronn it does say transfer students must complete a semester of stats and calculus 1, i wouldn’t be too worried about it though if you have completed all the other courses. I applied last year with the same major but had biology 7 and chemistry 102 in progress, i was put on waitlist and accepted later (was not able to accept offer on time). What is your GPA?

@Chevronn The assist report for your major is a bit ambiguous. If you check their website, it does not mention specifically that transfer students are required to take 1 semester of calc & stats before they transfer. Although you do need to have completed at least one UC transferable math course to meet the minimum UC admission requirement for math; and that’s for any UC you apply to.

Hopefully you can clear it up with an admissions counselor on Monday. They’re usually quick to respond via the message center.
