UC Irvine Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

I was looking at older threads and they found out around this time as well! Come on friday!!!

@amandamarieee What UC are you transferring from? I am also a UC to UC transfer (from ucsc) thinking of transferring to UCR or UCI (if i made it in!)

I wasn’t referring to you, Amanda, just others who seem almost hostile about the whole thing. Getting angry at UCI for not releasing the same time they did last year is silly. They never said they would, and they were clear it would be by the end of this month, so they are complying with that statement.

@taffylaffy I’m transferring from UCR

Y’know… this wouldn’t be all that bad for me if UCI wasn’t the only school I applied to.

Yes, you either GO HARD OR GO HOME.

@amandamarieee Ohhhh! May I ask why are you transferring? I have been researching about UCR lately (because I think it is likely I might go there if UCI does not accept me) but I got mixed responses!! Is the environment good? costly?

@taffylaffy Well, long story short, I was originally supposed to attend Chapman University but for personal reasons I had to leave and UCR was one of two schools that said they would let me in for their Winter Quarter/Spring Semester. It’s a good environment; I’ve just lived in the IE all my life and it was time for a change. If you have any questions about working on-campus, Greek life, living in an on-campus apartment, or anything else, just let me know and I’d love to answer them for you!

@fullload I find it weird too. The only thing they have committed to is releasing by May 1 yet people are actually saying it’s bad service? LOL, it’s not even a service. Entitled kids.

Hey everyone, I’ve been following this thread from the beginning but never posted. I can say I’ve been anxious from the start as well. UCI has been my dream school since I started at a CC (and 1/2 schools I applied to). I hope they release decisions before this weekend and hope all of us get in! Positive thoughts and feels for us all :-c

Hey guys, can you rate my chance to get in please?

Junior Transfer from San Diego CC.
Major: Computer Science
Alt Major: Software Engineering
GPA: 3.17
Pre-reqs: All done except c++ (Finished Java already)
Calc series: All 3 done, as well as discrete math and Linear Algebra
Finished physics series as well
IGETC: No, missing Oral Communications and 1 Bio class
Extracurriculars: Community service, Calculus Tutoring, engineering clubs, ect.

@Anxiety2015 Thanks for your input, I appreciate it! I definitely get what you’re saying, however through assist.org under the major Chemistry, I just need to have my Biology sequence done, which I’m finishing this semester so I’ll be done with it soon. Also, I would have to have my General Chemistry sequence done, which I do. The only reason why I didn’t take Organic Chemistry yet was because they want you to be able to take the upper division when you transfer, or at least that’s what they say. I could’ve definitely started the sequence earlier but I would need to FINISH it totally before I transfer or start it at whatever university I go to just because the semester and quarter systems don’t match up so I was either to finish it completely or start it new when I transfer. Regarding physics, I did start the sequence but didn’t finish it yet. I basically just followed the minimum requirements that are eligible to transfer which was the general chemistry sequence and biology sequence. The recommended but not required class in order to apply was all those other classes like the calc sequence as well as the physics, etc. But you’re probably right! I probably need more classes that pertain to my major to be considered as competitive.

I am pretty anxious too, I really like UCI, very nice campus. I should get accepted for computer engineering because I TAG to UCI, but still fell a little desperate to know their decision. I am torn between UCSD and UCI for the same major, I don;t know which one to choose, what would you guys recommend? I think UCSD is stronger academically for Computer engineering, but I really like UCI and the surrounding area. Tough choice…

@CollegeBlastoise I can’t speak for UCI but Calc 3 had the easiest material to understand of all the Calcs. Unless you’re used to a teacher that gives extra credit and curves tests then you shouldn’t be worried about the difficulty of the course.

I thought decisions came out cuz this thread blew up all of a sudden haha.

From reading previous threads decisions should be rolling out today and tomorrow

Hope is all we have. Wouldn’t it be nice to hear sooner, rather than later.

@amandamarieee thanks so much for your inputtt!!

@jasonb511 yep, last year UCI give out admissions after school, around 3 to 4 pm! not sure if this may apply to transfers as well

Have any of you heard of or know of anyone transferring into a non impacted major, really good personal statement, performing arts awards, work experience, and great ECs with a 2.99? (minimum gpa for consideration is 2.7) err asking for a friend…

Really hoping for decisions to be out tomorrow even though people keep mentioning that may 1st.
