UC Irvine Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@Solstice1 Yeah I retook the class last semester. Thanks, hope you get in too!

I just received this message from UCI admissions office: “You will be notified by May 1st.” T__________________________________T

^ WHAT!! ugh, I didn’t get that message though hmmm.

I asked them before an approximate date. This is what they sent T___T

I’m pretty sure that we will all get notified this Friday D: I’m nervous, based on my gpa and major :-S

I’m starting to think UCI isn’t going to accept anyone. Considering I TAG’d, I didn’t think this would be the last school I’d hear from.

@Solstice1 : I don’t want to scare you, but the fact that your chance is really low… Since Chemistry major required Calculus series (I,II,III,IV), 2 more Calculus, Gen Chem series, Organic Chem series, and Physics series. You did not finish Calculus, Ochem, or/and Physics yet, and even got “F” in Calculus III. Your gpa wouldn’t be a problem, since i have seen a lot of people got into UCs with those GPA. I would recommend you to stay at your CCollege and finish those missing classes as many as you can.

My stats: (Transfer after 4 years at CC)

Major: Chemistry
GPA: 3.18
IGETC : Yes
Pre-req : Yes, but Missing Physics series
Applied: UCD, UCSC, UCSB, UCSD, UCI
Admitted: UCD, UCSC, UCSB. UCSD (alternative major)
Pending : UCI

Oh man so nervous for decisions. Seriously hoping for UCI so I don’t have to stay another year at my CC. it’s nicknamed Mt. Stuck for a reason. TT.TT

@ Solstice1 @Anxiety2015 I am pretty sure the Calculus sequence is only three classes, not four Calc I, II, for single variable cacl, and cacl III for multivariable. I never heard of calculus IV, is that vector calculus? if it is so, most CC include it in their calc III courses.

‘Calculus IV’ might mean Differential Equations and Linear Algebra.

Does anyone know if UCI’s Informatics major is impacted?

can someone please tell me about public health policy? How impacted is it?

The fact that UCI is the last UC to come out, and last year came out April 17th, really really scares me because it makes me wonder how good the students are that applied in our batch that its taking them SO long to decide…

Out of every UC they received the most?

Malzahar, unless something dramatically changed, there’s absolutely no way they received the most applications in the UC system. That would be a first. UCLA, UCB and UCSD historically receive more applications.

http://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/the-short-list-college/articles/2014/07/15/10-universities-that-receive-the-most-applications

UCLA ~ 112,000 6.5% increase from last year
UCB ~ 96,000 6.5% increase from last year
UCSD ~ 94,000 6.4% increase from last year
UCI ~ 89,000 7.7% increase from last year
UCD ~ 80,000 6.5% increase from last year

Of all the big UC’s, UCI had the highest increase. Not the most applicants as UCLA still reigns king in that category.
This may be the reason for the lengthy acceptance/denial notifications. Perhaps they were not ready for the increase of the number of applicants this year.

Numbers never lie.

Hey guys, can you rate my chances?

Junior Transfer from San Diego CC.
Major: Computer Science
Alt Major: Software Engineering
GPA: 3.17
Pre-reqs: All done except c++ (Finished Java already)
Calc series: All 3 done, as well as discrete math and Linear Algebra
Finished physics series as well
IGETC: No, missing Oral Communications and 1 Bio class
Extracurriculars: Community service, Calculus Tutoring, engineering clubs, ect.

A small 7% increase isn’t going to flood their system so much it affects their release of acceptance letters. In fact, I remember someone else pointing out these numbers increase at a minimum of 5% every year. They’re prepared for it.

I’m getting so nervous. UCI has been my dream school since I was a high school freshman. I got accepted into UCSd but rejected from UCLA. I really hope they release decisions soon.

I think it’s weird how many of you are over-reacting to the release date. They’ve always said late April and it seems they are right on the money, we’re entering late April now. As long as it’s by the 1st, then they’ve done what they said they would do. Am I missing something? Did they give a specific date and then not come through?

I’m just basing it off of last year when my transfer friends found out that they got in. They found out around this week. I just need to be patient I guess!
