UC Irvine Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

does anyone know of any Japanese Language and Lit. majors getting in?

Did the uci application page crash?

What would you guys rank Irvine in terms of difficulty to get in to gpa wise and pre req wise/ amount of people that actually end up enrolling etc. I feel like its a safety school for most, but my #1 ;( I’m thinking it goes from most difficult to easiest this way.
Berkeley
UCLA
San Diego
Davis
Santa Barbara
Irvine
Riverside
Santa Cruz
Merced

Davis is not better than Santa Barbara @boredandconfused. SB has a lot of Nobel Laureates plus they are highly active in research compared to Davis.

Has anyone created a fb group for uci transfers to get to know each other?
because if not you can join my group “Official UCI Fall 2015 Transfer Group”

I’m just stressing like crazy and wanna know what my chances are of getting in

@Chevronn did you hear back???

@boredandconfused if you post your stats I’m sure people in the thread help you with finding out your chances

@igotlucky I did a while back and nobody replied ;( here they are again
Major:Sociology
Alt major:social ecology
GPA:2.99
TAG:No
IGETC: Certified
Admitted: SFSU, SDSU, CSULA,CSUN, UCR,UCSC
Waiting: Irvine (Fingers Crossed)

I had a bunch of ECS, english tutoring, club involvement, an amazing (in my opinion) Personal Statement, tons of work experience, performing arts awards, and volunteer work. Minimum gpa for sociology is 2.7 so I’m pretty nervous. Most of my C’s were in history classes I took and didn’t need. Major classes and English classes I got A’s in if that helps my case

I’d say you have a 50/50 chance. I’ve known people that got rejected that had really high gpa’s while others who had gpa’s in the same range as you do got accepted. @boredandconfused

It also depends on the school, I’m not sure about UCI but I know UCSD requires at least a 3.0 gpa to consider you as being competitive.

Well @boredandconfused even though uc’s write you need a 2.7 minimum, they generally want a 3.0 or higher. it says on the website that to be competitive you must have a gpa of 3.0 or higher so that’s pretty iffy, but given the fact that you have a lot of ecs and that you got A’s in your major classes I’d say that you have a pretty good chance of getting in.
I wish you good luck though and hope to hear the good news from you and anyone else still waiting

Mech engineering major here
3.0 gpa, some EC like leadership role in club, been in one other club, volunteered for one of my professors here at my CC and my grades have had and upward trend. What are my chances??
I’m very worried since I know that mech engineering is extremely competitive. Been rejected everywhere so far but appealed one school so i’m planning on going to sjsu

Thanks @bumblebeeCW that helps me feel a little better  a 3.0 would definitely help my chances but I know a 2.9 doesn’t completely disqualify me. positive thoughts

Thanks for your input @igotlucky, I guess now we can only wait. I wish you good luck as well in your future endeavours

@ayymig Is that 3.0 your major gpa, cumulative, or both? The school of engineering has a minimum cumulative uc transferable GPA requirement of 3.1 (except computer science and engineering with a 2.8 requirement). And a minimum 3.0 major GPA. EC’s looks pretty good but based on the minimum cumulative gpa requirement for the school of engineering it does not look good. Do you have an alternate major?

I had a horrible semester with ochem, physics, programming, and diffeq in the fall. Not to mention a terrible college career from 8 years ago from which I am still trying to recover my GPA. So my GPA is currently at 3.08. I have an alternate major which I meet all requirements. I should end this semester with a 3.6 and boost my cumulative to a 3.18. So the sinister plan is to get my foot in the door, get accepted, and switch majors once I’m in.

If you can, add an alternate major if you don’t have one already!!! Hopefully it is not too late.

Anyone heard from business admin majors? Non-TAG

@jasonb511 its my cumulative GPA, how or where do I find out my major GPA? I hope its higher.
And yes my alt major is Physics.

Wow seems like a tough semester my friend. Seems like a solid plan, I wish I did that for my apps lol I was like omg why did I not just apply as physics, I had all requirement for it completed and got A’s in the Physics series (not bragging, honestly just had a really easy teacher).

Thank you so much for replying! I hope you get in, i’m just praying right now. SJSU is pretty good for engineering but honestly I hated the campus when I went there.

Not yet for business admin. Im still pending and others also who have been asking

Any public health science majors still waiting?
