uci’s bus admin program is small so its tough to get into. i think their admittance rate to the program was less than ucla’s biz econ in 2014. that’s a popular major and they just don’t have enough seats.
Irvine – Business Administration or Business Information Management in the Paul Merage School of Business or Business Economics in the School of Social Sciences. The Business Administration and Business Information Management majors are both very competitive, with Fall 2014 admit rates of 7.1% and 12.8%, respectively. The Business Economics major is less competitive, with a Fall 2014 admit rate of 60.3%.
UCLA – Business Economics, also known as BizEcon. Transfer admit rate to the major for Fall 2014 was 12.03%. Transfer applicants must be admitted directly into Pre-Business Economics and declare when all requirements are met.
@AlexNeeeeewin sorry, that came out mean. I’d love to hear back from UCI saying that it was a mistake. =D
Originally, when I applied to UC, I personally wanted to attend UCI, UCSD or UCLA. When i visited the campuses, UCLA and UCI’s campuses was very appealing to me but UCSD was a bit iffy. I do realize that UCSD is a “better” school in terms of ranking but UCI would be a higher choice for me. Do you know what the rate of acceptance is for appeal? @chr1st1
@PrincetonLo
there’s always a chance though. I don’t think it hurts to appeal except maybe a little extra heart ache if it doesn’t work out but then it might be better than regretting not putting every bit of effort into trying to get in.
2014 numbers
231 appeals
9 admits

I think you should think about what to appeal about. maybe look at some of the comments from mssun to see what she recommends.
Sorry to hear that, @chr1st1 Just came home and found out that I got rejected, too. CSUF, here I come
Rejected
Major: Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
Prereqs: Everything done except two physics courses
GPA: 3.04
Applied: UCSC (Marine Biology), UCD (Marine and Coastal Science), UCI (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology), UCR (Biology)
Waitlisted: UCD
Accepted: UCSC
Waitlisted: UCD
Pending: UCR
Rejected: UCI
Edit: It could be because I haven’t updated my winter grades yet, without which my gpa is 2.96. But at this point I’m not really concerned since I’m being waitlisted @ UCD (first choice) and have UCSC as a backup. Congrats to everyone else who got in and good luck in your future endeavors!!!
rejected
major: Business Admin, altern. Business Econ
gpa 4.0 UCI transferable, but one B in a non-transferable class
Igetc yes
Prereqs: missing Calc I and II
Accepted: CSUF, CSULB, CSULA
Denied: UCLA, UCI
@orange2015 The problem could be that you were missing Calc 1 and 2.
@orange2015 what’s your major going to be at CSUF? did you go to their welcome day?
^yeah @orange2015 I think what @PrincetonLo said is prolly the reason. uci & la are sticklers for the calc series. something that counselors should tell you when you first enter ccs!
Unbelievable… I TAG’d with a 3.7 gpa… was finishing prereq this semester, and still got rejected.
did you meet all the conditions of your tag? that sucks. you should definitely contact them and find out why. could be a mistake
I know, but I didn’t have time to finish cal I and II since I had to begin with beg. Algebra when I started at CC.Anyways, I’m happy with CSUF.
@chr1st1 My major at CSUF is Business Admin. And yours? No, I didn’t go to their welcome day.
@JPJordan Same here. 3.75 GPA with TAG and I got rejected. I’m trying not to flip out and break everything in my house right now lol
yeah I didn’t go either. same here with a concentration in finance. whats your concentration?
Accepted:
Major: Econ
GPA: 3.90
IGETC: complete by spring
Pre-reqs: completed
TAG: no
