UC Irvine Transfer 2015 Waitlist

@futurezotter when I asked admissions they said that they go back and review the waitlist applications again and choose the strongest candidates. Although I don’t know how it would work if they needed to fill a certain major with more slots than another

Anybody heard anything new?

even though uci doesn’t require you to submit a written statement after you opt-in for the waitlist, is it a good idea to send something in anyways?

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock … I feel like reading some Poe while I wait for the waitlist. (random) :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyways – I should have applied for UC Riverside. I’m super regretting not doing so, I bet I would have got in and I could have had a place to SIR into while I waited. I did make it into USF though. Does anyone have any opinions about USF? Pretty good, not good, terrible? Psych Major – looking at a focus in Child Development or Neuroscience. Would like to go to grad school to study Oxytocin and Social Anxiety/Panic disorder. Possibly an Affective Science program dealing with emotion regulation if I was offered admission to a good program in the future… so anyway… any opinions on the school (USF?). I’ wrestling with the idea of doing another year at a CCC and reapplying to Irvine, Riverside, Davis and Santa Cruz with an upward grade trend OR SIR’ing to USF and just being done with it.

Transfer now? Wait, try again? Class of 2019 vs. Class of 2020? idk… either way tuition is expensive. USF gives out tons of aid to match the UC’s tuition costs. I love SF and the campus of USF, but I love the faculty at UCI and UCR a lot more – and I feel the UC would give me a stronger education. On the other hand, I feel USF will give me more opportunity to develop creative thinking, critical thinking, lateral thinking, “how to think,” ethics and all the private Catholic school mumbo-jumbo–which has it’s place and it’s own value. USF has neat study abroad program with Oxford, but I would need to get my GPA up to a 3.5, which… well, will be difficult unless not a whole lot of my units transfer. USF does have a Psi Chi for Psych majors – but you have to be the top 35% of the class – which might takes me a year to accomplish idk… I’m digressing.

Since everyone is waiting around for the waitilist anyway, does anyone care to talk about the schools? Just to get everyone’s mind off of UCI for a bit? I know the wait can be stressful.

Hey guys don’t forget to opt in on the waitlist offer from whatever UC you want to go to! The deadline is approaching very quickly!

does anyone know what time does transfer waitlisted student know UCI’s decision?

waitlisted Psychology and social behavior
I got accepted to UC Merced, CSUN.
anyone get hear acceptance from off the waitlist?

@mcrazy2000 my admissions states all will be notified by june 30 however, from last years thread it looks like the notifications begin rolling out by about the 15th of June.

@DrPoyPoy I know someone in admissions who says waitlisted students have 2 options.

  1. waitlist and then if rejected from the waitlist, appeal OR
  2. reject the waitlist and go straight to an appeal

He says if you are positive there has been a mistake (either on your side or their side) with your application then option 2 would be better. For example if you revisit your application and see that you entered in the wrong grades for fall semester that --if fixed-- would increase your gpa, then go straight to appeal.

Hope this helps

Does anyone know if we have to send any transcript or AP test scores as a waitlisted applicant?

I think unless you’re appealing waitlist or rejection, you don’t send anything until they ask you to. Kind of just have to sit tight until the end of june

So I sent in my appeal (I was waitlisted) and my portal changed to the purple banner that says my appeal has been received and is pending and below that is the original green banner that says I was waitlisted. However just today it went back to displaying only the green waitlist banner and the purple “appeal received” banner is gone. Has this happened to anyone? Getting a little worried here…

It seems like people are already beginning to get wait list acceptances! Let the anxiety begin (again)

@boredandconfused I hope today wasn’t the only day.

Admitted to my second major Criminology.

@DrPoyPoy my second major is also criminology. What were your stats if you don’t mind me asking? And did you find out just now?

Just got Admitted to UCI for Biological Sciences Major at 3 AM, 5/23/15 My stats aren’t great at all 3.3 GPA, but I’m pretty sure my personal statement and my extra curriculars carried me. Good Luck to the rest of you!

Congrats to those of you who got in! Did anyone else get the cal grant email at 3 am as well? I thought it was kind of odd and random

@CancelOut I found out about 3AM.
3.3 GPA
IGETC Completed
Pre-Reqs for 2nd major completed

If you get accepted off the waitlist is it only as your alternate major?
