@kchoi1021 That’s great news! Thank You. Did they mention if there would be rejections anytime soon?
@CancelOut i called today as well and heard the same information as kchoi1021. Since the acceptances will go until the end of the month, im not sure it matters when rejections start going out. As a side note, my cc counselor told me today that they may be letting more students in off the waitlist as the gov may release more funds to the uc’s…just have to sit tight and hope for the best. The only thing that bothers me is the inconsistency from the admissions office, the answers we get seem to change by the day :-?
I completely agree with you @jdsam23. A couple of people here have mentioned that the people at the front desk said they will not be using the waitlist. It seems otherwise.
what majors are you guys? i’m still waiting too
Econ major- still waiting
poli sci major still waiting also the woman i talked to today was really rude when I told her I sent an extra letter pleading my case as to why I should be at UCI (since I didn’t think it would hurt), she straight up told me that they most likely just trashed it…but so far i dont think any rejections will be coming out since they still need to deal with those who were rejected and appealed!
@kchoi1021 Wow, that is really rude… I don’t think they trashed it though. It would be really unfair. I’m waitlisted and I appealed but it still says pending
@cancelout do you know if we can appeal if we’re rejected off the waitlist?
I have no clue. I submitted an appeal while on the waitlist and it’s still pending. @kchoi1021
This waiting and hoping for the good is a really painful process. I fell so frustrating and angry that very single day i have to check my status so many times. Not even that, i also check every news that is on “askmssun” page and any news on internet. Why does it has to happen on us, especially this year, this type of situation has never happened before for both freshmen and transfer students. its a future of this country that they have to take care, this is a life changing milestone that they have to take into serious decision. Cant find a word to express my feeling, just want to say it out loud.
I believe you usually cannot appeal a Waitlist rejection. Or maybe it depends on school. Most of the time you can’t.
.
Hey guys just wanted to let you know that I was accepted off the waitlist yesterday! I received the email just now but when I logged in yesterday it said I was admitted. I have until Sunday to SIR!
My stats: Anthropology major with a 3.3 GPA. I had a 3.1 but after the spring semester I got it up to 3.3 and I emailed them about that. Not sure if that’s the reason I got in. Good luck to everyone else!
@hbanana123 congrats! Where exactly did you send the email?
@hbanana123 congrats! who did you email exactly?
Guys :(( I got a bad news about engineering students. I asked them about engineering majors waltlist states and they replied:“The School of Engineering was super competitive this year. Most likely we will not select students majoring in Engineering off the wait list. Nothing is for certain, so please continue to wait for your wait list and your appeal decision.”
I applied mechanical engineering with 3.5 GPA and only got UCR’s offer. Waitlisted UCI and UCSD. Any engineering student here is still waiting?
Guys any Econ or International Studies majors still waiting?
Why UCI wants me to have high school, college final transcripts? I know that I have to give college final transcript but why high school transcript even through I am from transfer. I just got admitted from the waitlist yesterday.
@ggggary Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. Engineering is extremely competitive at any school these days - even my friend with a 3.7 GPA from a good CC and all prerequisites completed was waitlisted at UCI for MechE as well, though he did also get into UC Davis so he ended up choosing Davis instead. Don’t give up hope though; they did say that nothing was set in stone. If there are a lot of prospective MechE students who end up not taking UCI’s offer, you will still have a chance. I’m also an engineering student who chose UCI, but I got in for EE. Perhaps they might let in people from a particular engineering discipline if the enrollment numbers are not what they expect.
@JC1005 I think they require HS transcripts as proof that you graduated from high school. I know it is a fairly irritating requirement considering high school was years ago, but that’s just how it works.
I’m an engineering major too. I’m waitlisted and appealed, still pending. I don’t think I can get in this year either. Are they going to send out rejection letters all at the same time? Does that mean that each day passed, our chances are less?
