UC Irvine vs Santa Clara University

Hey all,
I am a Political Science major, transferring from a community college. I am deciding between two universities:UCI and SCU. I am having trouble deciding which one to go to, as both are good schools. I feel like UCI has a nicer area and would be more fun, but I don’t want to miss out on the oppurtunites of the silicone valley. I am also not sure if its better to go to a small school or a larger school. Fortunately for me, I have a couple scholarships so money isn’t an issue.
Please help me,
Thank You

Well, you also need to see which institution offers the stronger Political Science curriculum. Opportunities and campus culture aside, it is also important to look at the quality of education you’ll receive if you attend one over the other.

Research your major for UCI and SCU; look out for any unique/interesting programs for your major.

I think you should do some research and see what school offers a better political science program, like stated above! Private universities usually have smaller classroom sizes which may be more helpful in your learning opposed to the large classroom sizes at UC’s. Also take into consideration the other things both schools offer, such as extra curricular activities as you may be looking to be involved in something specific. Check to see if these two schools have them if thats the case. Both are great schools! Btw, I just recently visited SCU and the campus and Santa Clara itself it beautiful!

The Santa Clara campus is nice, but the City of Santa Clara isn’t, IMO.

Santa Clara currently doesn’t have an entertainment district, though they may be building one soon. The City is constantly suing the SF 49ers about traffic, parking and/or money. And San Jose has complained for years that the City of Santa Clara doesn’t provide enough residential housing and much rather collect taxes from businesses.

SCU is nearly next to the San Jose Airport and Avaya Stadium, where the SJ Earthquakes play, and then with various events held at Levi’s Stadium, the whole area is a traffic and industrial complex nightmare. That’s my $0.02.

Great school and campus though.
