UC Open-ended prompt

I'm kind of conflicted over how I should approach the third UC prompt (Open-ended-" Is there anything you would like us to know about you or your academic record that you have not had the opportunity to describe elsewhere in this application?"). It's a good opportunity to write something unique about yourself, but at the same time, it's a good way to explain anything that went wrong.

Well, my GPA isn't all that high and I've consistently sucked majorly in my math/Spanish classes. How would I explain mediocre grades without sounding whiny? Saying that I didn't like my teacher/my teacher didn't like me sounds like I'm making excuses and saying that I simply don't like math/Spanish or slacked off sounds immature or obvious. I know I could go on and write about something more unique about myself, but I'm kind of paranoid about the UCs barring me for not explaining my transcript.

Help?

the open ended i think is to talk more about yourself ans show what kind of person you are and what you've experienced.

there's a 4th part isn't there where you can explain stuff like GPA, poor grades, etc.
