UC Personal Statement #1 General Question

<p>The prompt is: </p>

<p>Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.</p>

<p>My question is:</p>

<p>Does the "world we come from" literally have to be something that surrounds our everyday lives? Or can it be for instance, a sport that we play, and that community that has a huge impact on me throughout my high school career and has really taught me a lot and motivated me.</p>

<p>The reason I’m asking is because I feel its really cliche to tell a story about my parents and how they are motivating me to do stuff. Also neither my entire school not community has really had a huge impact on me. It’s the communities of things that I participate in that really change me.</p>

<p>It can be about anything that has changed the way you think or approach your life, interests, etc. I agree that an essay about parents motivation is extremely cliche. Talk about the things that have changed you.</p>
