Does anyone know how long it takes for the Residence for Tuition Classification to be approved?
I’m nervous about it because my mother is undocumented and I think I might be dq as a California resident despite the fact I was born in this state and have graduated high school here and living in it since I was born.
Not fair to dq someone because of their parent.
If you graduated from HS here then I wouldn’t worry too much.
If you attended HS in CA for at least 3 years and graduated with a California HS diploma you’ll be classified as a resident regardless of anything else as per AB 130/131/540 AKA the [California DREAM Act](California DREAM Act - Wikipedia).
@SDGoldenBear
How will they know I have been to Cali HS for at least 3 years when the only school UCLA has on record is the one I graduated in which I was only in it for 1 year (and it says so in admissions) due to moving issues.
They don’t in that scenario. The burden of proof is on the student so you would need to find documented proof of you attending a California HS for a minimum of two other years.
HS transcripts are almost always handled linearly so how did your graduating HS credit you the other state graduation requirements? It’s very unlikely you met all of them from your one documented year so they must have some linear record of your academics.
@selimpride they will expect you to send all high school transcripts to verify (unless the previous hs is noted on the last hs transcript, which it might be). If you don’t have three years worth, you might run into an issue.
