Havent heard anything yet and still freaking out. i dont believe i will be admitted as my major because i didnt realize calculus 2 was a prereq =/ but im hoping to be admitted in with my alternate major then go from there
I got my financial aid award!!!
@BlockBAP I got it too! I’m supposed to pay 10k out of pocket but my Gift Aid didn’t include a Cal Grant? Does yours include the Cal grant? I checked the Cal Grants site and the 2015-2016 award is still pending.
@CancelOut no it didn’t include my cal grant I went to check as well but I guess we have to wait. I have to wait again for them to update my award bc I had changed my housing. But I think we’ll see our cal grant later.
@BlockBAP The deadline to accept aid is April 19. So I’m guessing we accept what we need because I checked the Cal Grant Site and renewals are finished processing in June so I’m guessing by then you should know what school you’re planning on going to and can include UCR if it’s your top choice.
Btw, do you know if its still possible to take out loans if you decide to not accept them because you’re still waiting on the Cal grant?
@CancelOut I’m not sure but I think even when the cal grant is added to our award it will be changed again bc I don’t think they would give us more than we need. I’ve heard cal grant tends to be quite a bit of money. So they would adjust it like taking away the ucr grant and replacing it with the cal grant. Our award says who our financial aid counselor is maybe try emailing them to ask to be sure?

Ok so I can’t check my award, because I need to prove to them that I am indeed a US citizen since my Social Security number didn’t’ work for some reason.
@_@ 12,000 dollars after gift aid… ow… And that’s after the Cal Grant again. My EFC is only 500 dollars, but even then I’m still gonna have take out 10,000 dollars in loans to attend UCR at all… Ow.
@StoneTower you still need to pay 10,000 including cal grant? I thought cal grants weren’t processed yet?
Just saw my financial aid offer and it looks like i’m in the same boat as @StoneTower.
Actually my Efc is only $4 but it looks like im going to need 12,000 in loans if all else fails.
My offer also included the estimated cal grant award for those who are curious (Cal Grant A)
@UCmanny how much does cal grant A give and did your offers include riverside grant? And I thought cal grants weren’t processed till June?
Just for reference it’s just says what I’m estimated to get for the cal grant, not what I’m actually getting, but I don’t expect to get any more than what’s estimated @CancelOut

I get a federal SEOG of 3,000 and a SEOG matching grant of 1,000. But mines doesn’t show the estimated cal grant award. @StoneTower
