UC San Diego Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

Don’t post until you have a decision!!! It will just clog everything up!

@futureuclabruin1 how do you know your personal statement was a 9.5/10?

@Allidoisstudy‌ the rating of the essays appears to be a unique feature of CC, whereby students get feedback from other students, or just decide on their own, the strength of their essays. They are totally pointless numbers and have no relation to reality. You will see these figures pop up like an epidemic of measles as the next two months progress.

Can I ask about the housing trick? Does anyone still have the “your status does not allow you to access housing at this time…” or something like that? Or do we all have the “The housing application will become available in late-March. Please check back…” message? The thread last year never really addressed how successful this was after people started getting actual decisions back.

If I remember correctly, the change only meant that a decision was forthcoming, and did not suggest that an applicant had been accepted or denied.

Hi guys! Yea, I’m suuuuper excited too! Just got done reading all of the Fall 2014 Transfer Thread posts, and it’s totally revving me up now! Trying not to get my hopes up… I’m scared my GPA might be too low and that my major might be impacted this year at Roosevelt and Marshall college!!! :’( Nevertheless, GOOD LUCK to everyone!

Result: n/a

UCSD College Ranking:

  1. Eleanor Roosevelt
  2. Thurgood Marshall
  3. John Muir
  4. Sixth College
  5. Earl Warren
  6. Revelle

Does it put me at a disadvantage if I complete my pre-reqs by the end of spring instead of having them completed by Fall (when i apply)?

Oh I am so nervous!! I just want to know now! Unless it’s bad news then I don’t want to know lol

I’m so worried that I won’t get in because I’m transferring from a school out of state. Has anyone heard anything about that?

Otherwise, I have a 4.0 and my major would be human biology.

Good luck to everyone!

I think the housing message we have now,

“The housing application will become available in late-March. Please check back. If you would like to learn more about housing at UCSD, please use the links in the Housing menu above”

is the one people were hoping to get if they were accepted in previous years. Maybe they fixed it?

@IWannaMakeDrugs‌ where does it even say that? I can’t find anything about housing lol

@FuturePAinCA‌ click on the housing tab in your myapplication, then click housing application.

@IWannaMakeDrugs‌ got it  mine just says check back mid March. I cannot wait to find out! March is going to be so long. Did that trick ever be proven true?

@IWannaMakeDrugs‌ thats what mine says.

I’m more nervous about the college I’ll be admitted to. *crossed fingers for Muir

not that it makes a difference now, but do you guys know if some colleges are easier to get into than the others in UCSD’s college system?

Nope, all the same @friedchips The main difference between the six is housing (freshman only) and different graduation requirements. Absolutely no difference in acceptance rates, just one big UCSD acceptance rate.

@ReetaZam my top choice is Muir too! I have a feeling that as an Engineering applicant, my decision will be posted at the end of April. :frowning:

@friedchips You get accepted to UCSD first, then your college is assigned. If you’re talking about getting accepted into a particular college, I think “easiness to get into” is based on demand, since UCSD takes your preferences into consideration. If a lot of people choose Muir as their top choice, you might have a harder time getting into it if your application is looked at later. There are no statistics on this, though. It’s my guess. The website says most people get into their 1st or 2nd choice, but I’ve heard people getting their last choice.

@ksoy13‌ I was wondering where did you find the prerequisites for the Political Science major? I am looking to transfer to UCSD in 2016 and I can’t seem to find them anywhere! Thanks!
