UC San Diego, NYU-Poly, or University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign

I'm from Southern California and want to do Mechanical Engineering

There are three schools that I need help deciding on:

UC San Diego-
I'll only be two hours away from home, it's a big school and i won't be paying a lot, but it's socially dead?

University of Illinois Urbana Champaign-
Its a great engineering school but its in the middle of nowhere? its also a party school i hear. I've been accepted to the honors program as well

NYU-Poly-
it's an extremely small school, only for engineering, has merged with NYU, and in the middle of the city (which I love)- I have visited and I loved it there

*money is not an issue, my parents can afford to pay for tuition/living costs

Other schools that are possibilities are UC Santa Barbara and Georgia Tech

Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Congratulations!! Choose the school that’s the best for you!! Which school are you leaning towards?

The money you save by going to UCSD will pay for a lot of vacation trips to New York.

NYU Poly!! you’d have a better time at that college than the other two. its also a great experience going from west to east coast living, or vice versa.

but above is true consider money and san diego is a good school^^^

if ur parents are particularly wealthyand actually dont care/doesnt effect them too much, nYU

It sounds like your heart is set on NYU (though I’m pretty sure UCSD isn’t “socially dead”). If your parents are willing to pay, c’mon up to the big city.

Since you can afford it UIUC engineering is superior NYU-Poly and UCSD

Thank you for your feedback!

My biggest concern is which school is better academically!
Which school will give me more opportunities, and will actually be worth the cost of tuition?

Ucsd has more overall reputation . Uiuc has the engineering reputation. If i were you, I would go with ucsd because its cheaper and you might end up changing your major.

NYU (Poly) or soon to be called NYU school of engineering is very strong academically! This school is for people who are serious. There’s many Internship available around the city! The school is ranked number 4 in the nation for payscale. Plus you can cross school minor at other NYU schools. NYU kids have access to Columbia and cooper union libraries btw.

UIUC or UCSD but I would opt for UIUC given your major.
