@sddanr ditto for norcal in Concord…got second invite but not first , checked spam folder too. I would say go all they won’t say no.
@sddanr my S could only register with one guest as well. Both my husband and I would also like to attend. Maybe we will just show up and see if we are both able to go in with him. They are probably just trying to control the size if the crowd for seating or whatever. Don’t want extended families showing up.
accepted!

Just got my email about Dean’s Award! $20,000, and I’m international from Canada so this is very exciting news. Is this a common thing?
I’m up for the Dean’s Award, but haven’t been notified yet.

Remember for those of you that got accepted to the UCSC Chancellor’s reception. It is Sunday March 24, 2019 at the Hilton in Anaheim - Pacific Ballroom (second floor) from 2 to 4pm. My daughter already RSVP. See you there!
@slugwithtea or anyone who attends ucsc, what are the pros and cons of each of the ucsc colleges?
I dont understand this at all - my son was accepted early to UCSC with a 3.6 and a 33 ACT into psychology - no ECs, fair essays. Also accepted into Cal Poly, UCSD, USF, CU Boulder, SDSU but not UCSB. is there any rhyme or reason? We are grateful but feel awful for these waitlisted kids. Heartbreaking! All I know is that these kids are about to embark on the greatest part of their lives (so far) and i’m sure wherever they go they will have an incredible experience…
@tastetesting01 call the financial aid office - I got a similar message - they just want you to double check your info - if you say it is right, they will waive the message and proceed.
Has anyone else not gotten their financial aid info? All the portal says right now is we will notify you via email when awards are available to view. I’ve gotten fafsa offers from other schools so it should show at least that, right? I got admitted late february and I want to accept, but not without knowing how much debt I’m getting myself into.
@meidenberger My son saw his in his portal before he got an email
Son got an email yesterday re: Dean’s Scholarship - $30k over 4 years… so exciting! Every bit helps…
I heard a rumor that UCSC lost it’s accreditation for Computer Science. Anyone know anything about that?
@Globehead: Only EE is accredited by the ABET and was not aware their CS program was ever accredited. CS accreditation is not a deal breaker since schools like Stanford are also not ABET accredited for CS.
Mom of URM D, 3.96 UC GPA, 4.16 W, 34 ACT, As in all of her 4 current APS. UCSC was her only UC acceptance. WL at UCSC and UCSB, rejected at all other UCs. As a Cal grad, I am absolutely appalled by the UCs current admission policies not just for my daughter, but for all of the well qualified hardworking students that were turned away from the UC system. D is WL at Pomona and accepted to Tulane with just under $150K in scholarships. I encourage future in-state students looking at UCs to take their college dollars elsewhere. Wish you all well wherever you may land!
@Stealthy101Mom: URM not a consideration by the California public schools. What is D’s intended major? As everyone has stated, stats alone will not get you into the UC’s anymore so it looks like she has some good options. “Bloom where planted” and I am sure she will succeed wherever she ends up.
You’re quite right. I made the point because more than a few seem to think that URMs get accepted easily everywhere: it’s hard for everyone. D is vacillating between biology neuroscience and math. May all bloom indeed.
OOS D accepted in February for Environmental Science with invitation to Scholars Program. Got Merit Scholarship and yesterday got notification of Dean’s Scholarship! Yay! We are going to visit this coming Monday.
@montanatocali Congrats! That’s a great scholarship. Is 3.6 your child’s capped and weighted UC GPA?
