@stc9991 Sounds like our son’s are the same! My son since 10th grade has only talked about going to schools on the East Coast. We are here in Los Angeles. The only reason he even applied to a few Cal State campuses and a few UC campuses is because we made him LOL. But he has already been admitted into a few lesser-known smaller universities on the East Coast. And he was deferred so he is waiting with fainted breath for Drexel University which he will find out by April 1. But this morning because academically we knew that except for one UC campus that he did get into which pretty much anyone gets into if they’re breathing LOL any of the others he applied to were a definite reach… He kept saying it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t get in because all he cares about is going on the East Coast. But sadly he found out he was waitlisted this morning for UCSC and now I think his true emotions are showing and he’s quite angry and is acting out. I do believe should he have been admitted, he may have actually considered going to school out here at Santa Cruz. But his comment to us ( after he was showing disappointment and anger) before he left for school was,” Eh. No big deal. It’s not a big loss since I don’t want to go to school in State.” It still has to hurt his self esteem.
