UC SAT w/o Essay count for Admissions?

Hi all,

I took two SAT tests last school year, one with essay, and one without. The one without I got a better score on than with, but I know that UC schools require an essay with the SAT. Would the UCs count the essay-less SAT in their admissions and consider the essay portion separate? In addition, for private schools that superscore will the essay-less SAT section scores be considered for superscoring? Thanks all, I am terribly uneducated in college admissions.

The SAT without the essay would not be considered at all by the UC’s. If the private schools require the SAT essay as part of admissions, again it would not be considered for Super scoring but you should check each school’s website for the specifics.

Alright thanks Gumbymom, seems like I need to retake another SAT. I read pages of private colleges such as Stanford which stated “If you take the SAT, the essay section is required. Test scores without writing/essay will not complete the testing requirement for the application.” When it says requirement it makes it seem like once you fullfill the requirement all other tests go (or maybe I’m just bending this to my imagination so I don’t have to take another SAT). I just figured for superscoring they only need (an) essay score to demonstrate your writing ability, and that any SATS one takes without the essay is the same as one with as the essay comes after the other sections anyway.
