<p>My senior year of high school I decided to go to a UC because my councilors and my peers had pressured me into going. I am now a freshman at UCSB and for financial reasons I feel that it would be more cost efficient to go to a CSU. Could anyone help me understand the process of transferring from UCSB to CSU Long Beach.</p>

<p>Sadly, you will not be able to transfer to a CSU until you’re at upper-division (junior) level. You will need to complete a minimum of 60 transferable semester units, or 90 transferable quarter units by the end of the prior Spring term for Fall entrance, or the prior Summer term for Spring entrance.</p>
<p>Additionally, you’ll need to complete a minimum of 30 semester units or 45 quarter units in courses approved to meet CSU General Education (GE) requirements. Note that not all of the UC courses that you take will meet those requirements – there are a couple of ‘critical thinking’ and ‘public speaking’ courses that you’ll need that may be tough to find at a UC.</p>
<p>If finances are what’s at issue you might want to consider moving to a community college (which you can even do after this first semester to minimize debt), then doing a TAG during September of your sophomore year to the CSU school you’re targeting.</p>
