I'm currently a second year lit major at UC Santa Cruz, but I really want to transfer. UCSC's lit program isn't that great and I'm not a fan of the area (I grew up here). I applied to UC Santa Barbara and Berkeley for Fall 2012. Right now I have a 3.5 GPA and will have most of my major's undergrad requirements and GE's completed by the time I transfer. Do I have a shot at getting into either school (but primarily Santa Barbara)?

i think you have a good shot for sb. your gpa is good and having your pre-reqs done is key. idk about berkeley though. and keep in mine uc to uc transfers are the last to be considered (at least that’s what I’ve been told) but yeah I’d say your chances are good! ^_^

thanks for the input!

UC intercampus transfers are not the last to be considered. They are immediately after CCC transfers and before any other 4 year.

In at SB, not so much at Cal.

Where did you hear that about priority over other 4 years? I’ve always thought CSU’s had an advantage. That’s promising!

I can’t point you to a specific text on a UC website or anything, but I can 100% confirm that UC Intercampus comes before any other 4 year transfer.

Oh! An easy way to see this in effect is to go to the UCLA transfer stats for any given year. CCC students have a 30%-ish acceptance rate, UC intercampus has like a 22%, and other 4 year institutions has one well below 10%.

That’s a relief. Thanks.
