UC transers

I'm currently a high school student &i've been considering going to a CC just b/c i cant afford going to a university right now but i'm also worried that if i go to a CC and then transfer, i would be way behind academically and at a disadvantage. If i were to take honors courses in a CC or go into TAP or w/e &i were to transfer would i still be behind? or should i just go straight into a uni?

The statistics show that junior transfers from ccc's usually graduate faster than juniors who were admitted to the school as freshmen. So I guess, you can say that you're just as qualified. I have no idea though since I'm still a ccc student.

The California CC system is extremely efficient as they provide many UC transferrable classes. CC's will also have most of the core requirements needed to transfer into a specific UC major. You have the option of going at any speed you want because you're only fulfilling lower division requirements that are generally offered at all CC's and UC's. The majority of upper div classes are taken during your jr. and sr. year anyways.

The answer would depend on what university to which you're offered admission :P

How so ?

cc + slack -> sfsu
cc + tag -> ucsd
cc + tap -> ucla
cc + miracle -> stanford

let's say you're an OK student, cc = uc's for you.
you'd want to choose cc over sfsu,
and stanford over cc.

wow . you wont be behind academically ... if anything cc transfers are just as qualified to succeed than those who are admitted as freshmen .. so yea i went to ucla in fall of 04 and i had a hard time keeping up with everyone despite the fact that i was going in straight out of hs ... if anyhting i wouldve been better prepared to go to LA if i had gone to a cc for the first 2 years and started this fall ... i think you should definitely go to a cc because its easier, itll save you money, and the chances of you getting in are practically guaranteed. talk to a counselor and you could even sign a TAA/TAG/TAP agreement that will let u get into which ever uc u want ....... well thats what i wish i had did ......
