UC Transfer Applicants - Come Join

yeah, I got my UCSC letter on March 2nd ... still waiting for all the others. Anyone hear from UCI or UCR yet?

Student4u, my current GPA is a 3.92. I'm involved with my CC's honors program, am a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and several transfer alliance programs. I'll have also finshed up the IGETC at the end of this semester. I applied to all of the UC's, with the exception of Santa Cruz (because I hoenstly don't care of that city), as well as Tulane. I'm a history major, and will hopefully do the whole law school thing after I finsh my undergrad...

Crossing my fingers for UCLA!

Waiting for UCB (EECS), UCLA (EE), UCSD (EE).

Currently at UCSB under Electical Engineering.

GPA: 3.81
ECs: Community Service, Job, IEEE
All Lower Division Done, All GEs will be done prior to enrollment.

Chances?

socalgirl05 - UCR's was posted on the 1st. I also got the "big envelope" the following day (I live about 20 minutes from UCR).

Oh my gosh. People have been getting their big envelopes already. Congrats, UC_hopeful!

I'm sooo nervous. I guess getting into Davis is okay... but still, Berkeley! 1) it's nearer to my house (I can just take the BART everyday) and 2) it's Berkeley!

phpguru - i think if you're coming from a CCC, your chances are decent to good (except UCB maybe - I heard EECS is very very hard to transfer to). But I'm not sure how transfers between UCs work.

phpguru, its hard to tell cuz the UC's give CC students the first preference and the Intercampus students.I am also trying for Berkeley's EECS, UCLA(CS), UCSD(CS)...
As for Berkeley's EECS itz very hard to get in. The averege GPA of a EECS tranfer student is 3.91.

Im a CC student...
GPA when I applied for admission itz was around 3.8. Now after retaking one class I probably have 3.9 but this does not matter...

phpguru lets hope we both get in....UCLA is not a bad option (if we get in that is)
Good luck

I live a few hours from UCR and am still waiting... Just wondering but are decessions released on weekends, or am I good to take a few days off from looking?

indie_boy: the 3.91 average..where did you find that stats?

fei, its probably on the net somewhere but a EECS Representative told me the same thing ~3.91 average. They also employ a cutoff which has been 3.7 ish. Below that you're automatically rejected.

Indie_boy, good luck on admissions (~2 months left)! I'm hoping we both get in too!

phpguru

fei, when I started CC i wanted to know the avg GPA but could not find it on net...even now I cannot find it on the net anywhere...

so I emailed Assistant Dean, Student Affairs -- giomi@COE.Berkeley.EDU
His name is Robert F. Giomi. He sent me whole bunch of information for EECS students...
You might want to email him and ask him what the avg is for this yr cuz i had asked him 1.5 yrs ago...By the way itz not 3.91 but itz 3.92 (not a big difference)....sorry

Hope this helps

one of my friends, who plans to do EECS @ Cal, contacted the College of Engineering EECS department. They told him most of the information about EECS (also telling him that the average GPA is 3.91). If u talk to Mr. Giovanni (dean) he will give all the info you need.

I myself contacted the Dean for the College of Chemistry (for chemical engineering) and the indicated that their average GPA is 3.7.

indie boy: i got accepted to ucsc march 2nd.. and got the letter the following day. the letter isnt big.... i was one page and doesnt say anything about major selection, housing or anything... i think the big letter comes when you send your letter of intent.

it would be nice if they would say how much financial aid or scholarships each UC that admitted u would be willing to give. But they don't

CCIsPrison, thanks for the info...I think the engineering major admission letters will be sent out a little later....

Thanks Indie...very helpful...what we need to are links to the actual pages.

Yes this process is feh. I have a feeling I'm going to be writing CAL a letter of appeal. I only have one quarter of grades to show them (Xfering in a year). Cheers.

Applying to CAL, LA, SD, DAVIS

Anything new yet? Anybody get an acceptence letters today?

Nothing from the 4 I applied to: LA, SD, I, D

Noting yet...We should be expecting from Irvine soon....let us hope it will be soon

according to Uc berekeley,
they're gonna post up their decisions (for transfers) the evening of April 29.
