I'm surprised that you have a 3.8, and you haven't got into UCSB yet. I'm a political science major with a 3.35 GPA and I got into UCSB on 4/7.

Ohhh congrats! I would love to go to UCSB too. My friend goes there and LOVES it! I just wish all the decisions can come through so we can make plans for the next 2 years of our lives! The level of anxiety and excitement on this board is really amazing.

Total admissions weirdness - I am an English major with a total UC transfer GPA of about 3.30 - 3.34. Most recently, I completed 100 units at PCC with a 3.61 GPA (total of 161 SEMESTER units -yes, I know...that's a hell of a lot of units). Like so many others on this board, I was admitted to UCI on April 7, but I have yet to hear from UCSB (not that I care anymore after UCI accepted me), UCLA, and UCB. For those admitted to UCI: anybody else with a ton of units admitted as a senior? I applied as a junior transfer, but they gave me senior standing!

WOW i've never heard of that!!!
I think you should call UCI and find out what happened because I've never heard of senior transfers. I don't think they "allow" you to transfer as seniors at all.
I freaked out and just checked the UCI webpage and it says i'm a junior transfer. Pheww!

Believe me, I've already made a counseling appointment. I expect two more years of study anyways, since a 5th senior year is recommended for future grad school applicants. Maybe it was getting A's in 35 units of Lit classes past Freshman comp that did it =) ...Still hoping on to hope for UCB

I was also admitted to UCI as a senior (even though I applied as a junior). I will complete 76 semester units at a CCC and I completed 28 quarter units at a Cal State, so I'll have about 95 semester units when I transfer. Although I don't know that the UCI policy is towards Cal State classes, I suppose they counted them. Maybe we'll get priority registration? :)

My counselor told me that UC's don't allow you to transfer more than 70 units but if your classes fulfill your major requirements they'll allow you to use those units towards your degree. So you guys are ahead of the game. :)
I wish I could transfer as a senior :P

o weird...completed 60 units and they only allowed me in as a Soph....but i applied as a jR...so wierd....is it cuz i dont have enough credits? Thats wat im thinkin. Is jr standing with 70 units? if so then im only behind lik 10 units....thats kinda odd....-_- I should probably call them. N e one else have this problem?

niwatori, 60 - 70 should be Jr standing. You need a minimum of 60 and a max of 70 to transfer as a junior. I think the UCI admissions page is just screwy, but you should check anyways.

aebeys, did you complete all of the requirements for uci before spring (including for psych)? I'm just wondering cause I have 90+ units and I have junior standing.

i just got off the phone with an admission rep for UCI regarding the status (senior or junior) on my acceptance letter, and she told me that no worries, it's just based on the units you have, it's not gonna hurt you or anything.

Unrelated to the unit discussions, but, uh... Im starting to wonder if SD is ever going to tell me. Seriously. At least LA tells you flat out that they lag and so you know not to expect anything for a while. San Diego is taking far, far too long. I don't really care that there are technically like 19 days within their acceptance period.
