Rejected - UC BERKELEY

MAJOR EECS - Less than 14% acceptance rate. Toughest to get in.
GPA - 3.91
Major GPA - 4.0
All prereq classes - All math, all physics, all CS, 3 qtrs of English, few GEs. With tons of extra CS classes.

No worries. Only UCB has the right to reject me. After all, EECS is tied #1 with MIT and Stanford

indie_boy!!!!!!!!

***?!?!?!?!?!

what was your weak spot? how many units would you have completed. What is the biggest reason you think you were rejected?

man, indie_boy... you deserved to get in. i'm shocked... go to ucla!! lol

or appeal ucb !

I got in!!!! Couldn't care less though...... ;-)

I am unbelievably surprised though. I've been a Southern California girl all my life and I've never really known what some Northern Californian people feel about Cal until coming to CC. Now I have quite a decision on my hands here......

I'd hate to say no too quickly. Is it really that good of a school, forgive my ignorance on the matter but I never thought a person like me could get into a school like that...lol.

Wow, indie boy.....that's impressive.

I'm still waiting for UCSD. :(

congrats, bruinmichelle! i'm so happy for everyone...

HeavyMetalG0d,

Firstly, I do not have US citizenship and greencard. This probably killed me bad.

It is very common for 3.7-3.9 to get rejected from EECS. it is really really tough to get in. However, the program is such a cut-throat competitive major that, going to a good grad school will be a dream. So i would not attend even if I got accepted. I still love Cal. They are too good. Ill force them to accept me for grad school :)

No worries. UCLA will really not regret accepting me. I promise.

Still waiiting for UCSD though.

Alrighty I suspose that I'll post this for the final time. After months of waiting for this to come, it's finally over! So...

Congratulation to everybody on this board... We've all worked so exceptionally hard for the past two years and we all deserve what we get!

wow...Congrats all ! great job.

BruinMichelle --- Berkeley is the best public university school in the country, everyone kinda knows it's one of those schools that are really hard to get into, but you shouldn't base your decision on prestige (which you probably wouldnt do anyway) just go wherever you know you'll excell...my friends who go there tell me that competition at berk is killer...congrats to everyone who got into a UC

WOO!

I didn't get accepted to Cal...which means...Stanford is still #1 (even though I'll never get in there in my life).

GO CARDS!!!

Still waiting on UCLA.

Accepted: UCSB, UCSD (not going there for sure), UCSC, UCD
Rejected: UCB

Masta, thank you for your response.....

Yes, Berkeley sounds like a great school and very prestigious, I'm just absolutely delighted that I got into both schools.

However, Indie boy makes a great point...for Grad School at least Berkeley sounds horrific in terms of grades in Undergrad. They seem to break excellent students into a heaping pile of ash....lol. I do not wish the same fate for me......
I really have yet to hear about someone really enjoying a balanced college life at Berkeley. I'm sure it's an excellent school, but my 2 years at CC took it's toll. Not so sure I'd like to walk into a worse inferno....but then again, that's just my mild impression at this point.

Congrats to all who got into Cal!!

Kind of a non-issue for a lot of people right now, but... what the hell happened to UCSD? Aren't we supposed to FINALLY hear from them today?
