After looking at the Orientation info, they go into the advantages and disadvantages of going to a later sessions instead of an early one. Which would you all prefer? I personally would like July 15th, or so, anything before August would be great.

Woo hoo, I'm eligible for a "partial" fee waiver. I'll spend that on getting there. lol Just kidding......it seems that like it's going to last all day until 9pm. Wow, that'll be a long day. Hope it's not too hot, but....I'm going to assume that it'll be a scorcher nonetheless.

I still haven't sent in my housing application yet.....not sure if I'm going to. lol

Hi everyone. I would like to say that my appeal letter got accepted to both Cal and UCLA. Got into Cal as a Chemical/Nuclear Engineering major and for UCLA as a Chemical Engineering major. It sucks only b/c I have 4 days to make a decision.

Mo, it sucks even more because regardless of which one you decide....UCLA has some deadlines on major apps, like Housing and transcripts. If you've already sent those, please disregard that statement. At any rate.....I haven't heard anyone really talk about the transcripts, so I assume that everyone else didn't procrastinate like I did...oh well. lol

I'm acutally curious (I've already sent one set, and requested one to be sent as soon as grades are in) why they need transcripts starting with the Fall.

Allena, I'm not sure since Berkeley and evidently UCI and UCSB do not require transcripts that early and seem to have only one deadline. How long did it take you all to complete that questionaire? I was so tired when I completed it and all that I felt that I had taken another Final. I wonder what they're going to use all that info for. lol

And yes, I also got an early appointment. I was actually surprised knowing that many already knew that it was up and running.....so, goody for all of us.

Yeah that thing took me forever to get through. I need to read through it since I'm sure its got its share of spelling errors. Also some of the questions were hard to answer as they were geared towards freshmen.

Yeah, I had to laugh when they asked us to select up to three "possible" majors, and then asked...."so, why did you choose those three" and I was like...."well, um.....because I've already done the major prep for it and because that's the major that you......accepted me with?"

You're so right.....many questions were geared towards Freshmen. lol

Darn, just got my Spring grades and two courses which I took for Credit/No Credit, I actually did pretty well in them. Oh well, they weren't important, but I ddin't want to work too hard this semester and didn't need the GPA boost so I went the CR/NC route. Had no idea they'd be so easy. lol

And man that survey was long!!! I bet we see very little from it because it clearly was primarily for first years.

Also, when was the first day transfers could sign up? I would not have noticed, but BruinMichelle mentioned it in another thread lol. Thanks lol!

Dusty, great question....I'm not sure officially, but I do know a couple of days ago, I was snooping around MyUCLA and saw the "Orientation" icon and completed it that moment. I just gave the "brochure" a once over, just wanted to get the gist, as choosing a session was the most important thing I was pursuing. Anyway....hey, not a problem. I'm currently looking for a part-time summer job, so I seem to be online more often than usual and I've been trying to soak up info about UCLA. Glad that my post could be of some help.

Allena, no problem. I'll be happy to show you. Ok, in Ackerman go to the UCLA store (sorry, I forget what floor, I got lost in it last time, but I think it was A or B? lol).

UCLA store and go directly to where the "Office Supplies" are (particularly the section with all the journals, binders and pen displays?) adjacent to where they sell all the techie stuff and across from Copeland's to your right? I went to the large cash register area and asked for one and they apparently have stacks of them there. They are bright yellow, $10 and well worth it. I've been looking through mine just about every day.

Yeah theres a couple places where they have a display of them. But you will get a free one at orentation, and the whole thing is online in PDF format

Dusty, true...but who'd want to wait that long? Besides Allena goes to UCLA all the time and I was there only a week ago just to look around again.

That's awesome, thanks for the help... I'm thinking about making another trip out sometime in the next week or so and I'll pick one up... I live about 45 minutes from the campus, and am really trying to get used to that drive before the school year.

45 minutes? I live 45 minutes away going North of UCLA, but I never considered driving. The morning drive is a piece of cake, however, coming home looks brutal! I'd have to check it out though. It's neat though, there's a bus in Santa Clarita that costs 2 dollars to get to UCLA! Even though I have a new car, who can beat 2 bucks! ;)

Ehh, it think the PDF one will do fine till I get my free one, haha what am saying, I know so many people that have them (including my girlfriend)

If your considering commuting you should definitly look into the Vanpool program.
