UCAS Dilemma!!!

Hello all, well im off to the University of Bath next year to do a foundation year in economics so I can have a fair shot at my dream school...Oxford, also applying to cambridge, LSE, SOAS, St andrews, and bristol. heres my problem, m IB results recently came out, and I just blew them off and didnt do very well. I took 4 subjects, and failed one, but passed the rest. the thing is, with those weak scores I'd have no shot at these schools...so i was thinking id leave them out of my app. But i'm not sure what to do...I mean the conditional offers ( if i get any) will be made to me on the modules I study nect year, right? Should I send in my HS transcript as well?

Are you doing the full IB diploma? I didn't do that (did A-levels) but know plenty of people who did and most of them have a score of 39+. I think it's unlikely you'd get in to Oxford if you could not match that score. Think seriously whether this is a realistic option for you. Assuming you use the same user name over there, you posted on TSR that you only got average scores in the LNAT (a kind of admissions test for Law) as well. So where are you exceptional? I don't want to dishearten you but you need to find that exceptional talent that will get you admitted to the top Unis in Europe. It's not an easy option (I should know. I've been here 7 years!).

You know that the transfer process doesn't really exist in England, right? You would have to leave Bath uni and start again in year 1 at another place.

You cannot apply to both Oxford and Cambridge for undergraduate in the same year (with a few weird exceptions to do with choral scholarships.). This has been discussed many many times here.

I'm pretty sure you will still have to submit high school details. That is what all applications are based on unless you are a mature student

edited to add :- I don't think it is you posting at TSR (<a href="http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk%5B/url%5D">www.thestudentroom.co.uk</a> )The details seem different. Sorry if it's not!

thanks for the advice. no it wasnt me who posted on tsr...i didnt take the LNAT as i plan to study economics. but thanks for your feedback.

ok, well have a read of TSR. There are some international students there who have experience of applying to UK schools with US High school diploma. Or try posting in the parents forum. My main point is it's really all about grades. This is where you have to excel. You can put a line about your ECs in the UCAS personal statement but mostly this will be ignored. Work experience is valued though. All UK high schools seem to have compulsory work experience. You could try to get some.

cool so atleast we are now going global admission queries.....i thought ppl here only worried to Us and sometimes Singapore...
