UCAS forms for Americans

Hey guys,

I have a few questions about the UCAS.

  1. Do we have to list all of our SAT scores? Also should we send our scores to schools on the College Board website?
  2. How should our teacher do our reference? Should they predict scores on APs I am taking this year? And what should they talk about in general?

Thanks everyone.

  1. Yes, you must list all your standardised scores.
  2. Yes, they need to provide predicted scores for you. In general, they need to talk about your academic ability and suitability for the proposed course. Here is some guidance (from Exeter): https://www.exeter.ac.uk/media/universityofexeter/webteam/shared/undergraduate/documents/teachersresourcespresentations/writingaUCASreference-hintsandtips.pdf
  1. yes, you send all of your formal testing- SAT/ACT/AP/Subject tests. No need to send scores from College Board until you have an offer.

  2. there is info on the teacher reference on the UCAS website, and the Oxford website has some suggestions as well. Same as with your PS, the emphasis is on you as a student as it relates to the subject that you are applying to study. Your recommender predicts your scores- be sure that you can achieve whatever is predicted.

I actually talked to representatives of UCL and Imperial College today and they told me that for the SAT I only had to list my highest because unis overall did not care that much about the sat overall. So I don’t know what to do. My SAT scores are 1470, 1480 and 1560, so if I could avoid listing the first two, it’d be great.

Follow the letter and spirit and list them all. They told you they don’t care much about SATs

Plus they’re all fine and won’t detract at all from your application.

When you finalise your UCAS form you will find you are guaranteeing on that that you have supplied ALL your standardised test info. To omit any is against the UCAS rules/fraudulent.
