what is the admit rate for ucla's students into top med schools? does ucb and ucla send about the same number of students to top med schools each year? If they do, are the average gpa's about the same? Is there someplace i can find these statistics on the ucla website?

i have a similar thread in the UCB forum for berkeley students' points of view.

There are a lot of threads on UCLA pre-med, but to answer a couple of your questions, I remember on college welcome day, they said their medical school placement rate is a little bit above the national average and similar to berkeley's, which I think is a little over 50%, this is because they let anyone who want to apply, apply. Average GPA of students going on to medical school will typically be above 3.5, but you'd probably have to check the actual medical school you want to attend for GPA stats. Additionally, there are other factors that play into med school admissions that the actual school (UCLA) doesn't have control over... and that's how much effort you put into research, volunteering, and your MCATs.
