<p>Hi-I've read on the website that it is possible to transfer into UC Berkeley as a Lower Division transfer, just incredibly hard. I have posted in the regular transfer thread, but I have been struggling with depression and as my parents spend a lot of time in SF, I think being closer to them might help. Also, Berkeley has a stronger program in my areas of interest for studying.
Right now I currently attend Georgetown University-another reason I love Berkeley is that I see it as very different in the types of people that attend (a change that I would welcome-not that I don't love the friends I have made, but I have been exposed to the same type of people my whole life.)
As far as my high school grades go-I went to an intense private school, and all of our grades were moved up a letter in Berkeley reporting-so I have A+'s, A's, and one B throughout my 4 years of high school, and straight A/A+'s my junior and senior years. I got a 2060 (640M, 710W, 710R) on the SAT and a 750 on the Lit SAT II (testing is my weaker point...the math section of the SAT blows haha)
As for Georgetown (I've never used GPAs before so I don't know what mine will be) I will have mostly A's, maybe one or two B's after my first semester...still early to tell.
I don't need any aid or anything, and I have a bunch of comm service and athletic EC's from high school.
Do you think I would have a chance at lower division transfer?
(another option is leaving Georgetown now and applying to Berkeley as a freshman)</p>
<p>
If you search long enough, no doubt you’ll find someone who says its possible.</p>
<p>But it’s not.</p>
<p>And I’m not asking you to take my word for it, I’m asking you to take the UC system’s word.

<p>[University</a> of California - Minimum admissions requirements](<a href=“http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/requirements/minimum-requirements/index.html]University”>http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/requirements/minimum-requirements/index.html)</p>
<p>hmm I was looking more at the bottom half of this page…</p>
<p>^^That’s the UC system policy in general. Each campus has their <em>additional</em> policies, and UCB’s policies is NO lower division transfers.</p>
<p>You cannot drop out of Georgetown and apply to UCB as a freshman. You must have 60 units to transfer as a junior. When you apply as a junior, none of your hs stats will be factored into admission. Your hs GPA, test scores, and ECs are irrelevant. Only your college GPA, essay, and ECs will matter.</p>
<p>If being in the bay is so important to you, why don’t you look into applying to USF?</p>
<p>Ahh…and its based around my parents. They don’t want me to sacrifice the education I am receiving here (which is great, I must admit.)
I know SF State is good, but especially in the areas I’m interested in (i.e. not math/anything technical) Georgetown is definitely the way to go.</p>
<p>USF is not SF state. University of San Francisco (as opposed to San Francisco State University) is a private school that is located very close to downtown SF. Again, you should look into it.</p>
<p>i have a friend at SFU. he enjoys it very much</p>
