UCB or UCLA or UCSC? pre med

Trying to decide, majoring in philosophy, transferring from a community college and have been working on my science requirements but will continue to work on them from the university. I hear that UCLA and UCB can be harsh with the grading. UCSC might be a little easier in that dept. What do you think the best strategy is? Im willing to work very hard, but I do worry about the grade deflation affecting my GPA. Any advice would be helpful.

You should drop UCSC from the list. It's just too far away from Cal or UCLA. UCI, UC Davis or UCSB maybe? If you go to UCSC, you will definitely need a better GPA or what not. There is also the consideration of how well you will score on the MCAT based on the school you go to.

You feel that UCSC is in another league? Im just hesitating on the tougher schools because Im not sure how much grade deflation will affect my grades, I just dont want to get stuck in the middle, you know? Med schools want A's. I think I could be competitive in these schools, but I wont know for sure until I get there. There is risk involved either way though. I guess I have a month to make up my mind.

umm, Med school wants good gpa and good mcat score. it doesn't matter which school you go to for Undergraduate.

You should go UCSD, their pre-med is better than the next best, Berkeley.

Disagree, there isn't much of a gap between Irvine, Davis and Sta Cruz. UCSC has the better campus than most other newer UCs.

Go to Cal, the grading in the philos. dept gets easier in the last 2 yrs. If you're good and willing to work hard, you can handle the curve.

I recommend Cal, but pick the UC campus you like best.

I'd say go where you fit best, but the phil is probably best at Berkeley (although your particular interest might dictate otherwise), and the grading for science won't be so bad- you'll have two years experience more than most, and you're a phil major, so you're smart. :)
