UCB or UCSD

hey guys, i just got accepted to UCB under letters and science and UCSD under revelle.........with biochem (more chem than bio)
Which school would be better?

I vote UCSD. I think Revelle is an especially good choice. I think Berkeley is too big.

Cal. Revelle's got the most requirements of all the UCSD colleges- who wants that? And also Berkeley is a better school.

*** depending on which majors. dude be realistic.

I would pick Berkeley over UCSD for almost any major, except maybe Bioengineering, which is UCSD's forte.

well my major isnt bioengineering, and i'm regretting it, but did you know that there are two types of biochem? one that focuses on bio..adn one tha focuses on chem? my goodness..
i know berk is good for chem and ucsd is bio
and i have no idea which one i prefer

both are fine schools and you can get a good education at either one. Berkeley has the reputation as one of the best (if not the best) public university in the country, although the rep is more for the PhD programs than for the undergrad. The level of instruction and your fellow students is going to be on par at both schools; we aren't comparing Cal against SJSU.

But the question you ask is "which is better"? The better college is not necessarily the one with better name recognition. Nobody can predict which is better for you any more than they can predict whether you prefer chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Better is the one that you want to attend, in an area that you like, that attracts the kind of students you want as friends. Cal and UCSD are very different in this regard. Since I'm guessing you live in CA, my suggestion is look up some people who graduated from your HS and are at these schools. Take a road trip with a sleeping bag and spend a nite at each school, staying with someone. Make it during the week. Go to classes, talk to people in the dorm and cafeteria, wander around town. Get a sense of whether the fit is right for you.

i think it depends on what you really wanna major in... for bio-related stuff, go to ucsd... otherwise i say cal

hmm we'll see after i go visit the campuses, hey UClippers05, are you goin to admit day? maybe i'll see you there
