UCD to UCSD

I am about to start my first quarter here, what would be the best way to get to UCSD. Go to CC then TAG into UCSD. Finish a year or two at UCD, then hope my transfer goes through.

Thank you.

easiest way = go to cc

best experience = stay at UCD and try to transfer later on

Hmm… That is quite a difficult choice. If I do choose the TAG way, should I leave after 1 quarter or a year? Do my AP units count for parts of TAG?

I’m not sure how to edit. Is is possible for me to finish in a year? I have 28 AP units if they count for anything.

It is possible to finish in a year, hard but possible.

Don’t take any classes at UCD if you plan to CC–>UCSD. Having UC units can screw with the TAG process.

Advice: Call your local community college (try one of the Los Rios campuses or Sierra College if you’re near Sac/Davis) and speak to a counselor on the phone or even better, call UCSD undergrad admissions and ask your questions there.

Ahh. I decided to stay in UCD, and will try for an intercampus transfer. Is it possible to do it in one year this way?

It’s possible I’d suppose. You will have to apply with everyone else when the application comes out in October. In addition to your 28 AP credits, you would still have to earn 62 units by the end of Spring Quarter. That’s like >20 units per quarter, which seems crazy to me! The average freshman starts out with something like <16 their first quarter. But if you can handle it, go for it. You will probably need to petition to add more units to your schedule (and I’m assuming you still have a couple weeks to add classes), and you will probably have to do this all 3 quarters. Even from CCC, a one year transfer is supposedly very difficult. On top of all that, you will need to finish the pre-requisite courses for the major you want to go into at UCSD, which is a stressful undertaking to say the least.

Just wondering, why are you in such a rush to transfer to UCSD? If you wait a while and just do first/second year at UCD, you will probably be less stressed…and have a higher GPA.
