UCF or UF for Chem major before Pharmacy school?

I wanna go to UCF for the experience and environment. I think I'd have a better time for my first two years there with the family/friends i have in orlando, activities, and job opportunities...

But I know UF is a better school academically.

Would it hurt my chances of getting into UF's College of Pharmacy if I turn them down to go to UCF first?

Well it depends, if you get good grades then no. I think you should go to UF though, you’re going to have to leave your friends at one point and it might as well me now.

How exactly are you going to move to UF after 2 years?
Are you looking to transfer?
Will you have an associates degree by then?

The majority of the transfers into UF come from the Community Colleges with about 75% (or some other rediculus number) coming from Santa Fe CC.

You are probably better off getting in when you can and not taking your chances at a future possibility.

By the way if you have an AA and have all your pre-pharm required courses done and have taken your PCAT you can apply for entrance directly into the Pharmacy School.
It will take a LOT of planning ahead & lots of summer classes.

Im a senior in high school and I should have enough credits to get my AA before college in the Fall. So I’m thinking it’ll only take me about 2 years to get enough credits for a chem major before going to UF

Easy decision… go to UF. Gotta leave the family and friends at some point. Don’t let this opportunity pass. UF!

Go with the University of Florida

You can apply to the UF school of Pharmacy WITHOUT a 4yr degree.
You just need your AA, have satisfied all of the UF general requirements (which you may satisfy with your AA) plus all the pre-pharm requirements and have taken and done well on the PCAT.
If you get aggressive with your schedule you may be able to knock off 2 full years of school. You may also be able to do some research also.
AA is 2 years, Pharm degree is 4 years.

Suggest you contact the pre-med counseling center to get an idea from them on how to procceed.
