Hello, I am a male that goes to High school I am in Orlando, FL and I am planning on going to University of Florida. In school I currently have a 4.0 GPA and I am currently enrolled in 2 AP classes (APUSH and AP Lang) and 2 Honor classes. I am doing really good and the problem here is I was wondering if it was a better idea to go to Santa Fe College and then transfer to UF or go straight to UF. I don't see the point of going to UF for the first 1-2 years of college since it will be the General Education Requirement and so why pay 20,000 in tuition for it when you can get almost the same thing in Santa Fe College for 12,000? Most people say that community colleges are bad and are for people that don't try which is why I don't want to go to Santa fe but I also hear that many people are doing what I am doing and that the Professors at Santa Fe are really good. So all I'm asking for is your opinion... Go to UF right away or go to Santa Fe and then transfer to UF. By the way I am thinking of becoming a Pharmacist, if that makes a difference in the answer, If you need more information please let me know. Thanks for your answer and time by the way.

If you’re looking for Pharm school, saving money is definitely a good thing to be looking at. I personally am not a advocate of community college when a 4 year is an option only because i know countless people who have had terrible experiences at community college educational wise, however you seem to have the opposite experience. If you do the CC route, you need to plan carefully what classes you take and make sure they’ll transfer over correctly. It shouldn’t be too hard though, I’m sure you’re far from the only student to go to a florida CC and say you plan on transferring to UF.

I do think it would be worth your time to apply to UF and see what kind of financial aid you get should you get accecpted. A large school like UF has more resources to disperse than a small school, and you might be surprised that you could make UF affordable.

Have you tried the SuperMatch tool on this website? It is free and easy to use, and it will help you generate a list of colleges to investigate. With strong grades, you may find that financial aid and merit aid cover much of the costs.
As a junior, you are going to want to prepare carefully for the standardized testing ahead of you in the spring. If you could earn test scores that are comparable with your grades, you will find lots of merit award opportunities.

Thanks for the reply but the thing is that i am an immigrant (f2 currently going to switch to F1 soon to go to college) and so I have to pay for all of my college fees and I can’t get a international scholarship because I am currently living in the U.S. (not 100% sure about this so if you know then please let me know if you know more) And they are for outside the U.S. Also I don’t think i can apply to bright futures or any kind of scholarships at all but again if you know better please let me know. So I am trying to minimize the costs in all ways possible. And another thing is that I think is that you need to complete 60 credit hours and a good GPA and then you can transfer to UF but I am not 100% sure. Thank for your time.
