Hi,

I'm trying to decide between UCF and USF for undergrad. I'm majoring in Biology but doing Pre-Med. I know USF and UCF are really similar but I'm not sure which one would provide me with a better experience.

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm trying to decide between UCF and USF for undergrad. I'm majoring in Biology but doing Pre-Med. I know USF and UCF are really similar but I'm not sure which one would provide me with a better experience.

Thanks!

Can you visit the schools? The schools are very similiar, so a visit would help you decide.

Will you be in honors at either school? UCF has a (very selective) pre-med honors programs. It can offer guaranteed admissions to the med school (if you can maintain a 3.75 grade point average and make a score of 32 on the MCAT exam).

<a href=“Burnett Honors College Medical Scholars Program Begins | University of Central Florida News”>http://today.ucf.edu/burnett-honors-college-medical-scholars-program-begins/

USF has a similiar program.

And of course, this program is NOT required to get into med school. Do well on the MCAT and keep a very high GPA and you have a shot at med school.

Good Luck!

There is an excellent online handbook at Amherst I recommend you read to get an understanding of the process and what really matters
For deeper detail it would be a good idea to get a book about medical school admissions so you understand the entire process and what you should be doing to prepare the next several years.

If the schools are similar, as you say, then the end result is all going to depend on what you do in college. If you get good grades, get to know some profs so you get good recs, volunteer or work in a medical setting (an unofficial requirement), and perhaps take part in research, you will be good to go.
