Would it be a good idea for me to send updates as an RD applicant? I got a cool job and I want to let them know about it because I think it is relevant to my application.
@CuriousBobby
I guess it depends on what the job is. I think its only best to update them with significant news. For instance, I was profiled in a newspaper in Feb. for my startup, but I did not update colleges. I was accepted ED2 to Chicago. I don’t think updating colleges would have done anything since it wasn’t a significant achievement.
Anyone else get the FA email about tax transcripts?
No. Are you RD?
I got a FA email saying I was missing two documents, but that’s just automatic, right?
@daytonanerd nope.
is this a new document that they’re asking for? I know Dartmouth asked me to fill out another (new) FA document just recently, but none of my friends were requested for the same thing; looking back at previous CC posts, this is a good sign.
@JBStillFlying Yeah, RD
@SCGoalie00 yeah, I got that same type of email, but I didn’t know if they phrasing, that they started processing my FA application, was a sign of anything.
@DoctorMD Yeah, no other school asked me for tax return transcripts(the others have only asked for the tax return form itself) for FA thus far, so I was a little confused for a little while. I sure can hope it’s a good sign. For now though, I’m being cautious.
@daytonanerd I feel like financial aid and admission are totally separate, since you apply for financial aid before you get accepted, kinda like a scholarship. But I hope it means something!
I got that email today too. I did get a little hopeful when I received it by I’m really trying not to get my hopes up.
I also got the email too. However, considering all of my colleges are asking for the same information (I’m really behind getting in all of the verifications), I didn’t think much of it.
I would think if it’s something they required and you forgot or haven’t got around to sending, it’s automatic. If it’s something above and beyond what they require, it’s a good sign.
In my FA email they requested proof of citizenship? I was born in China though but I’ve lived here for 17 years…
@fbsdreams and @DreamforIvy and @JBStillFlying- there are two fly in programs at UChicago. One is before admissions and you are invited and apply or just apply and the other is after acceptances. My D was not invited but applied to the fly in before she sent her application EA. The fly in was in Oct. She was then accepted and invited to the April fly in after acceptances. She did not accept the April fly in because UChicago had won her over by then and she had some school commitments. They provide some great activities and you get to see what the dorm house system is like which is what she loves about UChicago.
@mackyg The requiring of citizenship, I believe, is because financial aid is funded from the government. They need to know if your a citizen, a permanent resident, green card holder, etc. (I was also born in China and here for 16 years.)
March 1st is tomorrow which mean we’ll know decisions very VERY soon!!! so nervous but excited!! [-O<
Yep!
There’s still one month left though! That’s not very soon Unless they’re coming out before April 1st?
Last year they came out the 16th it looks like.
@catsrock17 the email I received after application submission said mid-March
I believe it’s Mar. 15 when we find out. Last year it was the 16th (Wednesday) and this year the 15th is the Wednesday. Just my guess
