So I can see the academic calendar on line but I’m having some trouble deciphering it. At my S’s college it had more detailed information. And I’m not sure of what some of the terminology means- reading period. Is that a time to study then exams come right after that?
My D was hoping to do some summer programs but it looks like the year ends June 10th according to the calendar (on Saturday) and that would be way too late for the programs. I’m guessing that the last date would be before June 10th depending on your classes and exams but still that same week.
Can someone chime in on how this works for most students?

My D graduated this past June. Unless they changed the calendar this year, your assessment is correct. Reading period is the prep time right before exams and exam week ends with graduation. Graduation 2017 will be on 6/10 and undergrads have to be out of their dorms that day. As for summer programs, UChucago’s late calendar does make it difficult for other programs and jobs, but there are many opportunities for positions thru the university. My D had 2 research fellowships and taught at a HS bio camp on-campus. She spent every summer in HP.

Sorry, all - I’m not on CC every day. Yes, HP is Hyde Park! Lots of sublets, too, if your kiddos decide to stay the summer. Many do.
I think the then “South” dorm did stay open for the Summer, with additional cost, of course.
