Hi,

Does anyone know the chances of an athlete being admitted into UChicago without a likely letter? I was recruited by the Men’s Track and Field team (Tier 1). That having been said, I was told that I still have the coach’s support but he was unable to secure a likely letter. 31 ACT. Made up my own prompt for the essay. Top Prep School in my area. 4.2 GPA. Concertmaster of a nationally reknowned orchestra. Prestigious internship over the summer. Lots of faith based service. Leadership positions in numerous clubs.

-Did he clearly, unequivocally tell you that you had his support?

  • did he say how good your chances were, or how much pull he had with admissions?

The EC’s are nice, but if you are being recruited as an athlete then they really aren’t necessary.

I agree the coach is your best source on odds of admission. I’d ask him directly what kind of support he’s offering and what that has meant for others in prior years.
