UChicago Recruiting

Hi all I recently applied ed and would like to know if the coaches will know the admissions decisions before hand. Another one of my questions is when does uchicago send likely letters for the ed/ea round?

Thanks!

What sport?

@WantToGoCollege Did the coach tell you that you had his full support with admissions? Players in my kids’ sport announced their commitments to U Chicago a few weeks ago.

I would call the coach and asked him your question directly. Good luck.

I thought the UC coach wasn’t able to provide full support like D1 or NESCAC schools? At least that is what I was told by the swim coach when I applied ED/verbally committed and what I’ve concluded when googling UChicago atheltic recruiting. I’ve read people refer it to slightly more than a nudge.

In addition, there is this priority list of recruits by the coach and I’m assuming the higher you are, the more effort he will put in attempting to nudge the admissions officer to bring you in.

Me? I honestly don’t feel too comfy about this.

But going back to the general idea, UC is a D3 school where school>atheltic. Having better grades than a typical athlete and being near a typical UC applicant certainly helps give a better impression on the admissions officer in that you have the brains and the brawn(?) to fit UC well.

Good luck to us both and I sincerely hope for the best because I went all in and gambled.

Gl @Sat4thesat I got my likely letter a week ago and hope you get yours too. I don’t know how much the coaches input counts at UChicago but when I talked to mine he said baring a very bad essay I should be fine and I was.

How much the coach wants you and your academic stats probably count too

Congrats to Sat4 and everyone applying. Good choices all and good luck. Sat4, did you apply ED or EA. Did the athletes you know that got likely letters all apply ED? Is there any more info on likely letters or athletic recruiting at UChicago that you can provide? I have 3 kids, all athletes, very interested in this school. Thanks!

Sam-I-Am: what sports. Pm me if you prefer to keep private.
