@Dilan412: Yes, I got a confirmation email.
@JHGbarr…try not to sweat the typo. A couple years ago, my son submitted an app with a typo to an east coast elite LAC; he still got in to the school (and he wasn’t the 4.0/2400 kid either)
@vandyeyes Thank you! I just received an email from my admissions counselor thanking me for the email and telling me not to worry about the typo. They put the note in my file and everything should be fine…hopefully!
I hadn’t started my uncommon essay by the night of Oct. 30, and I decided not to go for it EA. I think I would have a far better chance if I worked on it for 2 months and submitted it in January, rather than working for 2 days just to meet the early deadline.
I emailed my counsellor and got a prompt response from him. He said I should email the right draft to him yay!
Does anyone know where I can find data on acceptance rates at certain scores/GPA’s? I’m looking for something beyond Parchment or Cappex where I can find the number of people accepted/deferred/denied at a certain GPA or ACT score. I feel pretty good about my stats (34/2250) and my essays felt really solid to me, but I kind of want to get a better idea of where I stand. I know it’s hard to get in, but I also don’t believe it’s a total crapshoot. Insight/advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.
How long does it take to receive the follow up email (after the thank you for submitting app) regarding supplemental materials?
@blueberries89: I believe CollegeConfidential’s got a forum thread that has the results (posted by CC members) with their acceptance/deferral/denials from the Class of 2019. I would probably suggest Googling “UChicago student profile” and something might come up as well.
@Dilan412: I got mine regarding the submission of my application the day after I submitted it. Is there a separate email regarding the submission of supplemental materials?
Thank you for submitting your Common Application to UChicago!
Please remember, a complete application to UChicago includes the UChicago Supplement, your standardized test scores (either the SAT or the ACT), high school transcript, and two teacher letters of recommendation. If you have already arranged for those materials to be submitted, you are all set.
We will follow up with you soon to confirm receipt of your UChicago Supplement, standardized test scores, transcript, and letters of recommendation. If you are missing any items at that time, we will give you plenty of time to submit (or re-submit) the missing materials.
@Dilan412: Yep, I got that same exact email.
Did anyone choose to do one of their past essay prompts? I chose the “The instructor said, Go home and write a page tonight. And let that page come out of you—Then, it will be true.” – Langston Hughes, prompt
@Lift35: I did a past essay prompt, too! I chose the one that said “If you balance over a tightrope, where would it be and why?”
On a side note, I’m actually scared about receiving decisions because my Christmas vacation is either going to be really happy or really sad.
Tell me about it! @Mochis1 I think my essay was unique and well done but I’m a tad bit more worried about my test scores. They’re not bad by any standards (33 ACT 1440 SAT CR+M) but as an Asian applicant I’m a bit nervous they would consider it below average for what I “should” get. But fingers crossed! I’m sure you’ll go somewhere fantastic even if it doesn’t end up being UChicago but keep your head up.
@Lift35 I picked the “Why are you here” prompt
And sameeeee, so worried my Christmas is gonna be ruined @Mochis1
@Lift35 I chose a past prompt too, the one that went “Einstien…Propose your own theory…”
Hey guys!
I was on the application status portal and I noticed that my Financial Aid Checklist and Application Checklist were gone. Is this normal? Is it because I had submitted everything already? Let me know if you are experiencing the same circumstances.
It was the strangest feeling submitting the EAs… I kept feeling like I was leaving something out! Did anyone write the untranslatable word prompt? If so, anyone want to swap & read each other’s essays? I’m so curious how other people took the approach & would love some feedback on mine
Is there a deadline to submit financial aid docs?
@Livingteen1209 21st!
