omg good luck! We are waiting on a RD so not expecting anything at this point…I’m just here rooting for all of you!
Rejected
@NietzscheRules That is a bummer, but at least you have UC Berkeley to fall back on - which is pretty darn impressive! Good luck.
@NietzscheRules same
@NietzscheRules - I feel really bad about this not just because you were also an ED1 candidate and clearly had UChicago at the top of your list, but also that your moniker suggests you would have enjoyed an excellent tête-a-tête - or perhaps a good mudwrestle - with Thomas Aquinas during core Hum. Good luck in your continued admissions journey - you are in a good spot already with UC Berkeley.
I was accepted but still no email from them saying my decision is available. Anyone else having this issue and should I be worried?
Rejected I don’t think I mind quite as much because I applied for ED II and then kind of regretted it afterwards. Chicago is far away from my dog lol.
I didn’t have any big leadership positions, and I only speak one language fluently, so that probably didn’t help me out.
@sapphicseraphic, given that ED is binding and you had regrets, you might well have dodged a bullet. No small feat getting honors at UMN! Good luck with the rest of your admissions journey!
@sapphicseraphic It’s alright. most of the times it’s just that the AdCom didnt see you fit in the class they had in mind for '23. Everyone cant do everything, so not having a 2nd language or any leadership positions didnt negatively affect you for sure. As long as you knew you had something meaningful done and devoted your time to it, thats all that ultimately matters to the AdCom. Doing what interests you, however time consuming it is, is way better than doing something you feel is ‘required’ or would make the AdCom ‘happy’
Just got the news last night. Are there any forums/resources for incoming '23 students?
Kid was accepted, but the aid package isn’t even close to doable. It’s always been his #1, honestly it was always UChicago or bust, so I hate to say no but this is more than a third of our take home and not happening. He also has two full ride offers from incredible schools. Love UChicago and want to support his dream, but I don’t see this happening. Even if they make next year work who’s to say it won’t change in the following years and the last thing I want is to not be able to afford it midway through. Like he said last night “Once again too rich and too poor.” ?
Accepted ED2? Isn’t that binding?
@NJFL123 can you please share your stats
Please all accepted student can share their profile
@mamacie I’m sorry. It’s so hard. I would talk to them to see if there’s anything they can/will do. It can’t hurt. That said, don’t underestimate the value of being the “big fish” at one of those other schools. I have twins - one at UChicago, one at a well-respected big state U on full COA scholarship. Big state U kid gets lots of attention and perks. His cohort is full of supersmart, ambitious kids (his roommate turned down UChicago and Yale). UChicago kid is one of the very impressive crowd. Both are good places to be.
@fenix23
Congrats! In the admitted student portal, there is a link to ask be added to the class of 23 Facebook group that is moderated by AOs. As of last week, there were over 850 students in it. There is also an Instagram page set up. To be added, you need to put Uchicago in your bio.
Is it worth doing? I’ve never had Facebook and haven’t logged onto Insta in a year
@fenix23
There is a google spreadsheet with roommate preferences on there, and my daughter has met lots of people already. She even met up with some admitted students for coffee last week that she had never met before. Up to you.
Yes, worth it!
