Last year they pulled a whole bunch from the waitlist before 4/1 and offered Z list to those after that (at least based on anecdotal comments from here and Reddit). Edit to add: not sure how many numbers in each category. Each year seems to vary from other years and it probably depends on how many accept right away.
Rejected. Does anyone know if an EA deferral means a rejection is more likely than a waitlist? I wouldn’t usually be worried about a rejection, but from anecdotal evidence, the UChicago waitlist is a mile long this year. I’m a bit worried that if UChicago doesn’t operate on some kind of “two strikes and you’re out” policy, it might mean bad things for the viability of my application elsewhere.
Thank you for sharing.
Your stats have comforted a lot people who were rejected.
This year I see a lot of waitlists and smaller rejections. So we have to wait and see.
Anyone got full-ride or full-tuition scholarships, please share.
Hello there. I was waitlisted. What is an LOCI?
Say “I still love you!” to school.
Letter Of Continuous Interest
Letter of continued interest
Thank you to both of you. Also, when do waitlist decisions come out?
Gradually. People can get taken off the waitlist at any point from now until school starts if you stay on it.
This would be any time after May 1st, correct?
The schools can always do whatever they want. It could be tomorrow if they feel that is what they would like to do. Ball is in their court.
Alright, thanks! My apologies for the questions. I am an international student from Canada, so I am a little confused.
No reason to apologize. It’s hard to know this stuff. Also, continue to update them with new and helpful info. This lets them know you’re still really interested.
My book was just published today and is selling well. Additionally, I received the position of valedictorian today. Hopefully this, along with my LOCI, will help.
Letter of Continued Interest to let them know that you would love a spot in the school.
Congratulations! This would certainly be wonderful information to let them know.
Then write a nice Letter of Continued Interest to your region’s admission officer (AO) mentioning about the book, grades after the application submission and your Valedictorian result. Like I said, they accepted the student right after receiving LOCI last year. So be sure to look out for any phone calls and good luck!
I will be sure to do this. I appreciate the help!
Somehow accepted. Think it was my writing.
