UChicago pre-professionalism

Based on a few google searches, it seems like UChicago from the 90s/2000s de-emphasized pre-professionalism. However, it seems like there’s been a more recent push in the last several years for undergrads to be more pre-professional.

How has students’ experiences been with career-readiness programs at UChicago? I’m specifically interested in both UChicago Careers in Business and UChicago Careers in STEM.

OP, this is either the third and fourth post you have made about job placement of UChicago College grad. I hope I am wrong but I am afraid you are losing the focus of an UChicago College education. The whole idea is not to use UChicago College to find you a job at McKinsey. Using an old cliché, at UChicago College students talk about “Life of Mind”. If placement at McKinsey/BCG/Bain is your only goal, then an UChicago College education is not a right fit for you. You are talented enough to gain acceptance at UChicago, Brown and UPenn. I would strongly advise you to go to UPenn.

After you get your undergrad degree, if you are still interested in U of C, then Booth is one of the top business schools in the world. Your Booth MBA will be a much better ticket to get you to McKinsey or Goldman than any undergrad degree.

I know some recent alums of my HS who went to UChicago and say that the two can co-exist. I don’t doubt at all the educational aspect of UChicago, but just want to get some more insight to justify myself picking UChicago out of the 3.
