UChicago Questions? Ask an admissions counselor!

@Uchicago I’m sorry if this has been asked before but do you know approximately when students on the wait list will hear back? I know last year the first round of releasing people was around 5/4

Yet to be determined.

still no results?

I just thought that transfer decisions would happen after most waitlisted students had received their decisions. But transfer decisions are already coming out.

I had presumed that we would get them at the same time when I saw posts yesterday stating that the results would come out today…
I really hope that it’s tomorrow, this wait feels endless and I have 11 exams to concentrate on :O

has anyone talked to their admission counselors to find out the date when most waitlisted students will receive their decisions?

sent an email 3 days ago. havent heard back yet. they usually reply pretty fast so i dont know if this means that they are busy trying to finalize waitlist acceptance

So, I just spoke to an admission officer on the phone, and she said that decisions for waitlisted students will come out no later than June 1 through your admission counselor.

i got mine already. rejected

It sounds like last year’s waitlist was very easy to resolve by 5/4.
Almost everyone (or maybe everyone) got a “No”

Hopefully a later date this year means there are meetings and discussions happening to decide who might clear the list.

UChicago, are waitlisted transfer applicants ever considered? I am not still hoping for admission, as I am sure the likelihood for being admitted off the list is almost nothing; I do not have other options for schools and am certainly making practical plans for another year off. I am just curious if, in past years, reviewing these files has ever taken place.

its actually a relief

Just got an email notifying me that I won’t be taken off the wait list. Saddening, but a relief, nonetheless. I’m looking forward to being a part of Amherst College’s Class of 2017! Good luck to everyone else, and congrats if you’re taken off the wait list!

Rejected, too.
I feel sick.
Stevenydc, can I ask you what state you are from? And did you send any updates?

karatekid666 wher eare you from? and did you send any updates?

Northern VA. And yes, I sent a letter of continued interest

I just got rejected too. I’m from Richmond, VA. i sent a letter of continued interest. it stings as much as a regular rejection does but oh well. i’m glad i know

from Connecticut
sent in extra recommendation and letter of interest.
UCLA class of 2017

I actually cried. It’s not that I assumed I would be accepted. But after so much dreaming and hoping, it does hurt. I cannot tell my dad because he sacrificed so much for me and tried to help so much that I feel embarrassed and broken to say that after all this work I was rejected. To everyone who was wait listed and then rejected, too: I know it’s hard to feel validated when we were so close, worked hard on our updates, and then rejected, but I just want everyone to know that college is all about YOU and what you bring to the table. A good student will be a good student anywhere. Best of luck to all of you.

@lynnhope i know how you feel. throughout this entire process, i think the worst part of it was letting my parents down when they’ve done so much and sacrificed so much for me.
