I was accepted as a transfer student and I'm currently deciding between UChicago and Brown.

Can anyone tell me about the transfer experience at Chicago? Is it difficult to complete the Core and graduate on time? How is it joining a house as a sophomore? Is it more difficult to meet people, etc? Are there programs or resources for integrating transfers into campus life? Anything else I should know about or look into?

I have friends at Uchicago and the way the house system works it seems like anywhere you end up you’ll immediately be welcomed. Since you’ll participate in Oweek, most people will just assume you’re a freshman and it’ll be very easy to meet people that way. Also from what I’ve heard most people do the core the first two years, so as a junior it might be a little weird to be in core classes with freshmen, but as a sophomore you probably won’t notice a difference. It’s definitely doable to complete in two years. Depending on what your major is it could be tricky, but just bother your advisor a lot to work it all in. I have heard that the advisors aren’t the best.

Hello I’m interested in transferring to UChicago in a few years, do you mind sharing your high school GPA and SAT scores with me? Mine haven’t been stellar and I want to see how big of an impact those two factors have on college admissions for transfer applicants.
