Transfer chances for UChicago

Hello,

I'm a freshman at a top-20 university & am unhappy here. I hoped I would like it here since starting school, but I've yet to like it, 3 months into the school year. So, I plan on applying as a transfer for this upcoming fall. The only school on my mind is UChicago, which has everything I want/ need in a school. I'm also considering Northwestern. I am indifferent right now to considering other schools. I am receiving a ton of financial aid at my current school, and would need the same at UChicago or Northwestern. UChicago is my dream school, however. When I applied as a freshman, I was deferred EA then rejected. Here are my stats:

High School
-attended prestigious feeder high school to these 2 institutions
-Unweighted GPA-- 3.50 out of 4
-Weighted GPA-- 4.6
-All AP/ Honors classes
-Top 15% rank
-SAT Score: 2030 ....superscore=2070
-AP Scores: 5,4,4,3,2,1 (should I even submit? They aren't great scores.. sigh)
SAT 2: 730, 640 in History & Math.. I guess I won't submit math lol

Potential Major: Sociology.. maybe.
Ethnicity: Ukrainian American

College stats:
-GPA: 99% sure that it'll between 3.75 and 4.. I've yet to complete my first semester. will complete it soon.
-will have 2 good recs., I hope!
--very involved with extracurricular life on campus.. worth mentioning?

Any advice at all? Greatly appreciated.

i can’t really chance you as i’m thinking about going through the transfer process as well. i want to put in my two cents as an accepted UChicago applicant last year: i received atrocious aid. Perhaps my family just had a weird situation, but my package there was the stingiest of all my acceptances. Chicago was my TOP choice but I decided to attend an ivy that offered, literally, tens of thousands of dollars more in aid. just something to keep in mind. oh and definitely mention your extracurricular activities in college on your app…

Aid decisions do vary quite a bit, but they usually turn out pretty well, although usually not Ivy-par. I will be graduating this year with less than $1,000 in debt thanks to Odyssey scholarships.

Thank you for the input :)
